Oh i forgot, Wyclef had a simple line from back in the day that always struck me as profound...

"What do you mean John 3:16? For God so loved the world every man packs an M16"

There are many many profound thoughts to be had in rap music if you don't subscribe to the mindless drivel pushed by the labels and major radio.

Tupac

"Life as a rap star is nothing without God".

Rakim
When I'm writing I'm trapped in between the lines, I escape when I finish the rhyme. I got soul.

Don't know if that qualifies as "wisdom" but I properly describes EXACTLY what is felt in writers block etc....

And Allah had no beginning because he is, what always was
Rakim Allah, peace
Now who is God?
Rakim-Mystery(who is god)

Basically the whole song, but this part at the end is incredible...x...

Pharoahe Monch, from Organized 'Releasing Hypnotical Gasses':

"I am one who is one with all things, thus the unorthodox I am
The paradox I am, the equinox extending my hand
into dimensions to unlock new doorways
And so the light has revealed to me that there must be more ways
And so I play with rhythms, for something more than a mere game
enabling me to advance in wisdom
Words will exist like vampires
No need for sunlight, from concentrations camps I escape
with my sanity -- in 2010 every man will be
subject to global warming, formless oval
Millions of locusts swarming
Seek and you shall find the deliverer of a rhyme
the intelligent one, utilizing the mind third vision
Surrounded by a three-sided figure, containing the brain
The triggering mechanism from which I strike
sight beyond sight, sound beyond sound
which comes from below the magma, the granite, the ground
The surface will seperate, dispersing harmful ashes
Your optics will not be able to detect
the deadly hypnotical gases
Damn it`s hard to breathe!!! But if I got one breath left;
I`ll suck wind from the valley of death, here I come
from the slums of earth to center
I reveal myself as a beast within a, unbreakable shell
Walkin through the doorways of Heaven -- or is this Hell?"
thats some unstoppable rawness right there.

Te matan y no desenfundan
Poco a poco negrito ponte mañoso
Boricua
Este es el Abayarde
Trayendola como es
Metiendole fuertemente pa\' despertar a mi gente
Oye que bonito es mi Loiza
Mira que bonito es
El Dj Adam nos fuimos

FYI, according to the Billboard charts, aside from the Hip Hop charts, there is very little(by comparison)rap on the Hot 100 singles and Top 200 albums.
Does that tell you that rap is in its final days???

I can't remember the name of the song or who does it, but it's the one where he details how much a$$ he kicks, how much p*$$y he gets and how much money he has. Also, it contains tons of forced rhymes and the music is simply the same two measures looped for about 4 minutes.

I think it featured someone else on the track as well.

Is their a point to this comment each genre has the same type of songs were a majority of the shit sounds the same.

But your so stupid you have prolly never heard anything but whats on the radio......

That reminds me of that country song with that guy singing about that girl he missed with that guitar riff that isn't played that well.

and that one band talkin about how nobody understands them and how the world is cruel with that one guy with tight pants.....................................................

(How many years are you thinking? I am a patient man so Ill wait for my winning’s)
(also what do you wana wager?)
(I think the loser has to wear a dress and makeup and pose singing in front of their favorite mic.)

Rap has to much of a following to go anywhere. To many artists still pursue it, to many clubs still play it, and to many fans still enjoy it.

I might agree that rap will change (most music genre’s do) I think we are at the climax of the garbage rap music and hopefully we can start getting back to more Hip/Hop. It looks like it is evolving and mixing with alot of techno right now as well as mixing with other genre’s.

Sin - A letter to Donovan

Life can be a hard game you got to play it to win it

It’s a cold world please don’t get too wrapped up in it

Learn the rules well, so you know how to break ‘em

Big rewards come with the same risk that’s taken

Enjoy every moment, try not to regret it

Judge your success by what you gave up to get it

Keep your friends close & carry on tradition

Put family above all, that love is unconditional

Travel on your journey from infant to adolescent

You got to plan for tomorrow but also live for the present

Shallow puddles act out, get wild, cause commotion

But it’s still water types that run deeper than oceans

You got your father’s strength, your mother’s infinite love

And your brother looking out for you from heaven above

I drop jewels for your mind to help guide you through

But remember how you live your life is all on you

The advantage of rap wisdom over scholastic wisdom is that it is more raw and honest. Political correctness is an agent of the "community" and serves nobody in particular exept the greater society. Rap wisdom is more about the truth, whether it is ugly or not, it's the truth. The most interesting thing about modern rap is it's congruency with psychological and biological facts about the human race. If one were to study both, one would see so much scietific truth in the content of rap songs (rap itself being a report on what is going on in current urban society - it turns out rap's commentary on the human condition is as a totality, correct). --So in reality the expressions of emotions and ideas are very in touch with humanity, unmolded by cultural machinations of sociological control. Un-neutered by political correctness or hidden agendas of conformity. An embrace of the picture biology paints of us as parasitical "survival of the fitest" creatures.

Human beings are attracted to truth because it makes us feel alive. Therefore it makes sense that young men are addicted to this artform because besides the logistics of the music or the flow-etry it delivers, it primarily provides them with truth about this world that they are trying to better understand and master. It makes sense it's the most popular music genre amongst young people.

Reallly?

Wisdom is a deep understanding of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act. Wisdom is comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action.

So by that definition, it's reasonable to see where truth fits into the wisdom equation.

It will exist, but it will very much become a niche genre, it already is actually. It's just too easy to do and requires little skill.

what i'm saying is... you don't need any kind of wisdom to document what's around you.

imo it only becomes interesting if you actually have something eye opening to say about what you document. i don't see many 'rappers' doing that. the majority of them are just 'street reporters'. not very interesting any longer. we already know 'there's a war going on outside no man is safe from'
