Do i NEED to sync my mpc4k to my DAW ?

PLease help methumbsup. I use my my daw to sequence midi and i completely bypass the sequencer in the mpc4k. when i play midi from cubase to the 4k, do i need to slave the mpc to cubase with MTC? Everything sounds okay at the moment but if I do this will I get more accurate timing from the mpc? i noticed that recording a single midi part twice, and layering them in the daw, the two audio part drifts in and out of phase. thanks for any help

Computer midi interfaces are notoriously sloppy. There's one way to get the MPC synced accurately to the computer, the Innerclock Systems Snyc-Lock. Got mine a couple days ago, works great. I've got several drum machines, and they're finally stable as well as in sync with the computer. Not cheap, but it works very well, and curently it's really the only way to never worry about it again.

I think it´s something wrong with your question. What u doing on the MPC that you don´t use it´s sequencer and need to sync ? I think sync = sync sequencers, so if you´re not using 2 sequencers, that´s no need to sync. I think you´re using the MPC as a sampler so all you need to do is to assign the right midi channels to it, so the midi data that you sending by the sequencer will trigger the sounds on the mpc and return to your sequencer as audio. No sync needed. Maybe you wanna look at your audio buffer settings. That could be an issue.

Send out midi beatclock out of your sequencer into the mpc4000. set up the mpc to sync to beatcock on the midi in that is coming from the sequencer. set the clock to on in the mpc and press play on your sequencer...the mpc slaves up perfectly.

NO!
Making the MPC the master is the only way to keep the MPC feel and swing.

listen to this man... I sync my 2500 master to Logic via a cheap usb e-mu 2x2 midi interface. NO problems! I let the sequence solo a track for say 24 bars then take from 9-17 or something. Loops perfectly n when I stack the other sounds, also tracked, its perfect n my swing n groove is ALL there. Make the MPC master n ur gravy baby.
