| I don't think so, brother. I've used both and the HS80's are still here. There aren't many monitors in that price range with the extended, tight bass that they have. Just make sure you read the manual so you can use the trim pots on back to maximize them to your room. |

Did you have the RPG2's or the Rokits? The RPG2's sound better than the HS' IMO.

| Clarity... Yamaha all day long... Boom... KRK's... The KRK's are a great tracking/listening monitor and if the room is treated and you learn the monitor you can get a good mix out of them. The Yamaha's sugarcoat the sound a little less (ie. great clarity) and aren't as much fun as far as a listening monitor would go, but they offer awesome mixes. If the room is treated, you'll get perfect mixes. I bought a set of KRK's RP6G2's and I love them for putting together tracks because it's a good gauge of how it's going to sound in the car, in the club, etc. I'm actually purchasing a set of Yamaha's for mixdowns as I'm tired of having to let other people mix my work. I could have bought a set of monitors, lol. Chris |

| The HS80's have an insane amount of hi's and mids to the point that it becomes fatiguing after a couple of hours of listening. I do recommend getting the HS10w sub to go along with these, it really evens things out.

| Lives for gear | hs 80's. no debate whatsoever. just skim through some major studio photos and tell me how many krk's you see compared to the white coned spekers the 80s are based on. although, i would add if your just looking to bump at parties and stufdf like that, and have no plans on mixing anyone elses music, or arent really concerned about what happens to your mix outside of where your recording it...go ahead, get whatever you want.

![]() Like that's the only speaker they would have. How many majors would you see with just the NS's? Pretty rare to see some one with the NS's as their only monitor. Also the HS series is really not like the NS10s.

| Whatever it's worth instead of the HS80M's I went for the HS50M's with the HS10W sub...I really like that sound. I had a problem with too bright mixes for years due to some slight hearing damage so the HS50M brightness is not a problem for me at all plus they have controls on the back that you can adjust things a bit. Plus my room is very tight because I also do a lot of voice over for movies, commercials, and film so the 50's fit nice. With the sub I never feel I don't have enough bass for full range monitoring. |

| Yamaha's easily..I used the KRK's for way too long, feel like they have to be turned up too loud to hear anything, at low volume they are muy shittay |

| Let me get this straight. The guy said clarity... which hands down we know the Yamaha has. "Boom" as he said. Yamaha's without a Sub... you're saying are louder than the KRK's? You must be on narcotics. There's no question the KRK's bass is muy exaggerato. The bass on the KRK's is louder, not neccessarily "better" but louder. Meaning it comes out softer in the mix, unless you've learned that already and mix for it. The Yamaha is the better speaker, no doubt. Personally, I would only buy them if I used a sub to go with it. Use them to mix, and the KRK's to track/produce/listen/party/boogie/crunk/swag. |

| Since i've treated my room, my HS80m's are brutal. You can hear everything. Midrange is king at my place and suddenly it feels like I have lots of space to mix in. But I will buy another pair of monitors to use when tracks are done so clients can listen to them, because the HS80 doesn't sugarcoat anything. They're a little bit spartan; you know you're working when listening to the yammies. But for me, they translate extremely well! |

| I have had both the Rp8's first version and yamaha HS80's,which I currently use.I have also listened to the G2's plenty of times. I vote for the Yamaha HS80's hands down. I absolutely loved the mids,highs,lows/bass and overall clarity. They are flat and are very accurate for not only making beats, but mixing them also. The KRK RP8's are cool, but they just dont have enough balls. They also have a false low end that doesnt help a mix. I will say that the G2's versions sound much much better. However I love my HS80s and will never get rid of them. |

| I own the hs80's and i have heard the KRK's, i will say this: HS80's are great if you place them in the correct room and understand how to adjust the settings to get the most out of them. They are so accurate that i hate them until i play my mix on different speakers and it sounds ok. lol. The low end is alright if they are turned up quiet a bit, but if you go with the HS50's you will have to get a sub. KrK's in my opinion is the way to go if you just have a home studio and aren't doing pro mixes. 100 |

| Gear Head | I think it all depends on what your ear is used to. There is no right or wrong answer. Try them both out and let your ear decide.

| If you use the RP8G2 with the 10s sub and take the time to use a SPL Meter and Pink Noise to set them up per the instructions. You will have a system that won't give you the mis-representation of the lowend. It's also nice because you can then use the bypass foot switch to turn off the sub and make the RP's full range whenever you desire to give you a different representations for monitoring. What I see with either of the choices he's asking about is without the accompaning sub they are not going to give their best performance. |
