I use a Akai MPD 24 with Logic/Battery/Kontakt and i don't want to miss it.

Nonetheless i think i'll get NI Maschine, too.

I've you're looking for a DAW-MPC, i guess this is the way to go.

MPD32 and NNXT is my weapon of choice. I love it. The only thing that would make it better is built in slicing of samples.

I'd have to say MPC+MOTU BPM...though Battery is a good choice too...

Even better-make your own drums with vinyl samples and/or live drums/percussion and layering/eq/compression like the old school...takes longer but sounds more original...

And how many drum sounds does one actually need? I have (8) 16 sample MPC pgms...plenty for me...I really don't want or need gigibytes of drums...just a nice selection of good ones...peace
