HIt song

It's gonna be a hit so what does it matter. Remember a song is not just the beat, or just the vocal or just the snr, or just the bass etc...

The song is about the total production and what is heard when you press play. It doesnt matter how simple the elements are.

I like the song and predict it will be a hit for Kim along with the documentary and promo to keep her name ringing while she's in jail in Philly

Agreed with NO SSL. In addition, I think the loop is pretty hot...with the proper vox/ideas on top, it would be nice. With some breakdowns (which apparently it doesnt have) it would be real nice

It's true that you cannot quantify good or bad by elements of a track. And since it's art it's only about opinion. But for me, so many songs are nothing more than a 4 bar loop withsome drops these days and it bores me to sleep. I haven't heard the song yet, so I am not being spesific, but I can relate to what the other guy is saying as well.

I only wish that some of these nuR&B tracks would get me inspired, it would make my life a lot easier, but I just get bored too easily.

same here, same here.

"Whisper song" ---> "Whistle song" ---> "Fart song" up next?

It´s all about "flows"; that´s why the G-Unit guys can record 5 tracks a day - freestyle - cut & paste in action and perfection.

These days we have more access to music of the past times than ever; I find it pretty much impossible to get inspired by today´s music, too.

Darwin will solve the problem; another thing is, when you grow up, you need some idols, later, you have to become an idol...and that´s pretty tough.

Even though I like Lil Kim´s flow on this track...it´s realy just a loop.

Three 6 Mafia´s "Stay fly" is an example, how you can make a loop sound "fly"

Fo me the key to working on pop music is to balance it with listening to lots of jazz artists to keep things in perspective .

I think the track is cool...

4 bars is hip hop, no need for more if it's a hit!

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Is what it is.....It's a 4 bar loop track for the clubs and the radio...it's doing what it's supposed to do...Also Kim is moving the vocal tones and pattern around, so if the arrangement was anymore sophisticated it would get too confusing for a 3 minute club/radio promo.

It's a hit

Mark my words. It's a hit.

I think there is some beauty in it's simplicity. I dont think it can be broken down to "WELL IT'S JUST A LOOP"

Hell all music is JUST 5 lines and 4 spaces but not ever song is a hit.

For me a hit is about the mood that it provokes. What hearing the song reminds you off, and also the energy of the song.

NO matter how simple the song. Many songs lack this quality and few actually have it.

I think this one has it

it not all about how simple the loop is........... it's sometime about who did the simple loop.

once you're the chef in the kitchen, you can cook whatever u want

burger and fries for $20 mayo & ketchup extra

Track is okay, but Her Flow would have been good it she was actually the one who made it, but she is sooooooooooo LAME.

Anybody's who has Damien's marley's Welcome To Jamrock, will here the resemblance. I cannot stand her. Btw, i thought she was from Brooklyn.

I don't think this song will be huge.

exactly. hip hop is a groove. one of the hardest things a producer has to do is to know not to mess up the groove when u got it. Too much extra stuff will kill off the groove fast as can be.

Grindin' by the Clipse was an eye opener. It took it back to the "drums only" days of hip hop ala sucka mc's by rundmc

That´s why they have (the Neptunes) ridden this bull for such a long time...

What I find remarkable, is the ignorance amongst the producers, when it comes to the process of getting "that sound".
So even when they talk for hours about equipment-lists, they won´t mention their true and only "secret weapon", the man behind the desk.

There were (unmixed) records I have heard, which gained 10% of "soul", but there are many, which gained 50-60%, after being mixed.

So I think the mixerman should be paid more credit, especialy since it´s due.

Ask the Neptunes, ask Timbaland, etc...

Well, I think when it comes to hiphop and R&B, Mixing is almost a part of the song writing process. When everything is quantized and every sample is playing at 127 velocity, etc etc. The mix is really where the feel and dynamics is brought out. Rock is kind of the opposite, it's all captured in the tracking and the mixing is just a kind of fine tuning. And with HipHop a lot of that happens at the mix. This is one of the differences between the two styles that I enjoy. Neither means one is better or worse, just two opposite approaches. Not that you didn't already know that, I am just adding to your point.
