| Toft ATC for my SM7b for hiphop vocals (and more)??? ok, here we go: I have a limited budget. I wanna improve my vocal chain. Right now its Sm7b/Presonus MP20/FMR RNC/Digi002 (Waves plugs). Since Im on a limited budget, ideally Id like to get a pre or channel strip that could serve many purposes (keys, beats, bass, guitar) , but most important is the vocals. The toft looks nice, gets good reviews, is a great price, but does anyone have any realworld experience with the toft in hiphop applications?? The other (cheap) route would be to pick up some random pieces off ebay. I hear good things about Orban eq's (are they better then my Waves plugs?), maybe I could pair that up with my RNC and find a decent pre?? Any suggestions?? any "sleeper" gear for hiphop (thats cheap). anyone use the toft?? |

| Gear nut | i've gotten good results out of the toft ec-1 on some rappers, and r&b singers as well. wfiw , the unit is definately worth the money, nice eq and a useful compressor.. i used the atc for a while and i think i like the ec-1 better for its eq, it sounds more natural to me. i think it's a lot better than similar priced, let say, focusrite platinum stuff. of course the highend stuff would deliver faster/quicker/better. but for €650 i ain't having a problemwith the ec-1. |

| ive considered the ec-1 myself and have heard some good things. i hear the eq is great, the comp is pretty good, and the pre is kinda average. |
