Selling beats online. What do you look for? Let me start off by stating that this isn't your typical "Where should I sell my beats online?" thread. I am here to receive feedback from you, the producers, on what you would like to see in an online beat seller website. I know there are many options to choose from when getting into selling your beats online but after looking over some of the biggest players in the game right now, I've come to the conclusion that none of them really offer anything different or fresh. Many of them are simply a melting pot of random produces and beats. This is where I need your help. I'm looking to start a site soon where producers can go to host their beats. I would like some feedback on what features you would like to see on a site like this. I am reaching out to the producers because I am not making this site for me, I am making it for you. Please leave your feedback below and maybe we can start a discussion about this.

| Start the site out being exclusive. Only get a handful of members on the boards meeting eachother and critiquing their beats, etc. After a bunch of threads are made with the basic feel of "friendly, constructive, open beat website" set in stone, open it up to the public. Also, make sure you've got a nice variety of categories for people to place their beats under.

Yea I think that's what I'm going to go for. I want to set this site apart from the others and if there is limited space available there is more room for a community to grow. It would also give the produces on the site more exposure since there would be less competition on the site.

What a beatmaker want is clients: make a website that will please the CLIENT, drive traffic and transactions and you got a winner.

yea I agree that this is one of the most important things to focus on. Ease of use is huge too. I want to make it as simple as possible for clients to browse and buy beats. I've noticed that a lot of beat selling sites have really bad layouts and designs and this is where I will aim to be different.

yea, you should also consider setting up a vocalist/singer/rapper/songwriter forum... instead of a producers/beatmakers one ;) for example, but I'm sure there's a lot of things you can do to attract the clients, make them feel good, and keep them browsing around. If you got the clients, the beatmaker/producers will follow.

Hmm I didn't think about an artist page but that's a good idea. Artists could set up separate profiles where they could display songs that they made with different producers beats.
