Talking Help Pease!Lavry Blue ADDA through aes rca adapter to spdif input on moded digi 002.

First off, this is my first post so thanks to all the users that really know what there talking about and are willing to help people. I'm connecting my Lavry Blue adda to my moded 002 rack through a AES-RCA adapter to spdif in. The Adapter is neutrix and the cable is a 75ohm hd spdif. I'm going into pro tools at 96k and setting the lavry clock to internal and the pro tools clock external spdif. The problem is about ten minutes into a session I start to get ton of a white noise kind of static through the lavry and the led's jump to about -8. It's a brand new unit so maybe there's something I'm doing wrong or a better way to connect it. Anyway if there's anyone that could comment on this,I would really appreciate it. All comments are welcome. Thanks again people!

Try a lower sampling rate, or double-check the digital IO protocol on either device to make sure it can handle single-wire 96k.

Are you using a AES/EBU to SPDIF cable or a converter??? You need a converter not just a adapted cable. Something like: Hosa Technology | CDL-313 Data Link | CDL-313 | B&H Photo Video or similar.

Are you going 96k or 48k? The digi cannot accept 96k, 48k max. That is most likely the issue.

Again, the OP should double-check on whether his Digi hardware can accept single-wire 96k digital. My LE hardware couldn't, but it's been years since I used it, so if there's an update, or if the mod made it possible, then it's possible. But...I'm pretty sure it can only receive digital signals up to 48k.

i'm sorry, my mistake - i've used my friends which was at 96khz. i did a bit of googling and you guys are right - adat only works up to 48khz. light pipe is what actually works at up to 96khz.

"The Digi 002 supports two channels of S/PDIF I/O on unbalanced RCA jacks, at resolutions from 16-bit, 44.1 kHz to 24-bit, 96 kHz. There is also Lightpipe I/O, which can be configured to accept two channels of optical S/PDIF (running up to 24-bit, 96 kHz), or eight channels of ADAT data, also at 24 bits but limited to the ADAT standard of a 44.1 or 48 kHz sampling rate."

cheers guys

Talking

To answer a couple questions,my digi 002 can take 96k,the spdif cable is an hd 75ohm,the mod is the signature series which even before that could handle 96k. I like the mod for certain instruments direct but it doesn't do well with gain hungry pre's. I like the mod for mixing and it really does have alot more headroom. Imaging is alot wider as well. To get back on topic I think the one guy had a good point looking into a hosa or something of that nature. I forgot but somebody said I would be better off posting this somewhere else. Which forum page would be the best? Thanks people.
