| Go for Melodyne if your top priority is transparency. |

| I haven't used the Waves version, but I use the Melodyne plug-in in Pro Tools everyday and it never ceases to amaze me. It can go from complete transparency through to the 'Autotune' sound if that's your thing and everything in between. The Direct Note Access algorithm is pretty cool to play around with, though far from perfect (what did people honestly expect?) though I believe DNA's strength actually lies in creative sound manipulation as opposed to fixing dodgy pitch issues... |

| Melodyne, its much more versatile. I actually own Waves Tune and never use it because it sounds sub par and manual adjustments dont sound natural. |

| Honestly, not hating or anything, but sometimes when I hear some songs wit autotune, that sound all garbled and pitchy all over the place, I do not understand how they let that out the studio.... They should have called me in to smooth it out for them... Im talkn bout major artists here.... Im bettn I sport some of the smoothest effected autotune around.... check the myspace tracks... add me.... Higher Quality?? Dominick - Tracks - SoundCloud "Checkn Me Out": Heavy on the autotuned vocals....its got the "tinge" saturated sound of autotune on the vocals..... As far as the choice between Melodyne and Waves Tune... Melodyne...... More Advanced Editing... Formant Control... Scale Snap....to create harmonies that stay in key.... and much more.... Just be aware, that if you plan on doing live performance....you best to really learn your vocal melodies, and actually have some vocal singing talent to be able to perform onstage... Otherwise, you could always throw on the AVP-1 Autotune hardware unit....and have someone trained to operate it for you..... |

| Melodyne is the shit!! Not just for vocals either. I use it on drums, samples, keys, loops and everything. If you really start to experiment with this thing, you realise just how powerful it is.

| I hate Melodyne because it's just never worked right on my setup, no support, patches or anything has fixed it yet. Not sure why, it just has timing issues. Had it worked properly, I'd probably be very happy with it. |

| ive worked with melodyne extensively. i love it. its easy to use, the results are great, and its flexible. waves tune actually can sound good too, its just a little harder to use. i do like the fact that you can design your own vibrato on waves tune, whereas on melodyne you can only drag whatever pitch modulation is there to make it have more or less vibrato. i also have the avp-1 from antares and i love that too. if i had to have just one it'd probably be the avp followed by melodyne, but id certainly recommend melodyne over the avp. i just make lots of club music ![]() |

| Gear nut | i use a separate machine just for melodyne. output you vocals and a rough mix of the music, midi tempo map..... then tune away... trying to lock it to protools never worked for me.. i just run it standalone melodyne sounds the best, so much control.. i recently hired a guy that has a music degree and taught him how to use it.. all he does is tune shit all day long.. adds harmony if needed.. ive never had vocals sound so good and it sounds real. |

| Wavetune for vocals is amazing,if you actualy spend time getting to know how to use it you will find it alot faster than Melodyne. I used Melodyne for about 2 years then bought waves complete and have been using wavetune ever since on vocals. |

| Gear Head | Melodyne is the most accurate and smooth one. the best formant shifter on VST's.

| I havent used both thoroughly but if I remember correctly waves tune has a feature where you can export the graphics as midi,is that right? can melodyne also do this? didnt mean to throw off the thread but you can get creative by exporting as midi and throwing some sort of patch into it in your DAW and you have some melody to go with the lead vox, different things like that, but im sure you need it for more than that lol Melodyne once understood and used correctly can get you places, all depends what your looking for. |

| I've been using Melodyne but now I find Waves Tune much more flexible and underrated. Concerning transparency, it's a draw but Tune is easier to manipulate because you can draw everything with a pencil etc etc In both cases, you can make a so so singer sounds great but you can't have really natural results with a singer badly out of tune. Unless you're willing to spend hours on it! Oh, and what I don't like in Tune is the huge latency! it often exceeds Pro Tools HD long ADC when I have other effects on the same channel... Melodyne is better for that! Anyway, my personal choice is Tune but both can save a session! You should try them and see which workflow is best for you, you'll get pretty much the same results. Hope that helps. |

| I need to get Melodyne. I have AT but I don't use it hardly at all. I like the speed and accuracy of DPs internal pitch correction actually. For the stuff I do it works really well. |

| I have been demoing both waves tune and melodyne this week and I'm not sure which I like better. Waves tune seems a lot faster and it seems to sound clearer to my ears, melodyne takes some highs away. The plugin is too small though, it's a pita to navigate in it because I always have to zoom in and out, with melodyne I can make the plugin really big if I want to and it makes it easier to navigate through it. With melodyne there are a lot of editing available that waves don't offer. Waves can simulate a vibrato from scratch, I don't think melodyne does that. I prefer the waveform view from melodyne compared to the bloc view in waves tune... To make a long story short, I really don't know which one I should get, there's a 150$ difference... if they would be the same price I would probably go with melodyne just for its ease of navigation. |
