Copyright of your "artist/producer" name

How do you go about copyrighting your "producer" name or label ?
To get it to be a brand-name so nobody else can use it.

Or isnt people bother doing this ?

I just know about the law's and how to do it in Norway. But if I do it here, it has nothing to do with the rest of the world.. Is there some sort of world wide pattent of brandname?

Anyguys here done this?

Thanks in advance.

Planning on taking over the world or something, LOL? Just register it with the Trademark office online. Basic Facts, Trademarks

By the way, be sure to seach the trademarks/copyrights on any names/logos you are wanting to use.

It varies from country to country.

In the USA you would file for a trademark with the Patent and Trademark office.

United States Patent and Trademark Office Home Page

First you need to do a search in their system to make sure that no one else has the name in your industry. Once you do that you also need proof that you have used the name on a commercial release. Th application process takes a bit of time, usually anywhere from six months to a year from the initial filing until your status is approved.

Last time I filed one the fee was $350 per category. If you plan on using the name for both music and merch you will need to file for two categories which will be $700.
