I'm not on the best headphones, but here's a few suggestions:
1. Maybe come in with the bass much sooner, like at the 3rd or 5th chord.
2. The bass sounds kinda lost and subby, in these headphones at least.
3. The song is coming off a little New-Agey, maybe find some ways to add some sound effects or panned "moments" to break things up and give it more hip hop personality?

so basically, I scrapped the shitty strings I miced thru a guitar amp (I was bored) and redid them from midi, i completely reworked the bassline, and i made a new set of drums with less going on to get more knock and more space for everything else.... I probably should have asked story more about what he meant about the vocals (or ron or robot) but I changed them quite a bit too.

yes I realize I pretty much changed the whole feel of the song,

so is this new one better:

or is the old one better?
(here for reference)

The guitar isn't resonating in the new version, which makes it sound a little too clicky during the busier parts of the song. Maybe you could run it through and Amp or Pedals plugin?

The new version does sound louder and cleaner though.

Still unfinished, this is a rough mix as for now,

Its a very dense/busy mix with a lot of orchestral sounds but I still wanted to create an epic type Uk Hip Hop track.

I'm both producing and mixing this album which is due to be released soon.

The Bit-rate is not 320 as the file size was to big, just to clarify.

Your thoughts?
Fillin' this! Keep it up.

sample isn't a bad choice or cut, drums are fairly weak imo. More going on, more variation of pattern, less of that kick would help

thanks for listening. do you mean the drums were weak in terms of sound or just arrangement as you mentioned?the pattern was inspired by another song and i tried to keep it simple just so chopping the sample would be easier

I didn't like the sound of the kick, and it starts out too sparse and then even if you were keeping it simple, you'd have a bit more hat or something going on. Slight variations (timing/velocity) are everything to making them not sounding stale after the 100th time it's looped.

putting this here cuz it's not getting enough views. These guys are my friends, and this is a benefit performance night for a children's music school for low income families in the Vancouver area. They do amazing free stuff like this all the time and it goes largely unrecognised. Their tour has been going really well too.
