sample isn't a bad choice or cut, drums are fairly weak imo. More going on, more variation of pattern, less of that kick would help
thanks for listening. do you mean the drums were weak in terms of sound or just arrangement as you mentioned?the pattern was inspired by another song and i tried to keep it simple just so chopping the sample would be easier

I didn't like the sound of the kick, and it starts out too sparse and then even if you were keeping it simple, you'd have a bit more hat or something going on. Slight variations (timing/velocity) are everything to making them not sounding stale after the 100th time it's looped.
putting this here cuz it's not getting enough views. These guys are my friends, and this is a benefit performance night for a children's music school for low income families in the Vancouver area. They do amazing free stuff like this all the time and it goes largely unrecognised. Their tour has been going really well too.

A few of the joints were previously posted in this thread. Enjoy the tape ya'll. Feel free to drop reviews and all. Tweet it. Facebook it. Burn it. Tell your friends about it. Peace.

Firstly that synth that is heard in the start and through is gorgeous. Its such a nice patch. Sounds really analogue to my ears.
Secondly the musicality and line is great! Really enjoyed this dude. I'm not going to comment on the mix to much as thats not my thing but i thought the drums could of had more impact.
beat I just made. Let me know what you guys think please!! I've been making beats for years and I havent really had any success at all... Im really trying to get my foot in the game and I need to start grinding hard...
The kick in that beat is really harsh to my ears. It sounds like it's distorting on my speakers and it just makes me cringe lmao. All in all, an alright song. Maybe bring up the bass in the mix.
I'm just trying to get into more old school sounds rather than making hype tracks like Waka stuff, so I tried replicating a part of Snoop Dogg's "What's My Name?". I think it came out pretty good, and I only had to mess with it for maybe half an hour. I just want crit on my mixing skills.

hey ChadDub were you talking about my beat or another song?
I'm having this song I produced, recorded, and mixed for a local artist played on the radio soon and I would like to get feedback on the mix and production. Would my fellow GS members please leave feedback for me?
