this is what i feel also, if u dont hit the commercial market as such u wont sell as much as u can... hes previous stuff had big commercial singles. im a dj and nothing of what is here can be used to get a crowd going, make club records make chart hits and u will sell more, thats atleast my view.

From what I hear most of the big name producers have lowered their rates and asking artist to producer their whole album. This then doesn't allow new producers like us to get a foot in the door and eat.
I beg to differ... I think it does the exact opposite.

If an artist, be it new or seasoned can go to an up and coming producer and get laced with heat for $5 to $15,000 per track vice $150,000, i think the choice is pretty obvious.

Though having a name attached to a song can do a lot, i certainly wouldn't say that doors are being closed for up and comers.

If anything they're being opened... You just need to have the product.

Money

My money had just picked up. one prime recording spot had shut down so every one was coming to me and my friend studio. then last week the slumlord we were leasing from had issues and we ended up moving. soon as the relocation is done my money is back good again.

i think 600,000 is a good number. we have gotten spoiled over the last 10 years with these fake record sale reports and companys buying their own music. as for hip hop it has always been about building and developing artists also big tours. blame it on the industry for looking for quick paydays for these bullshit singles. they have conditioned people to allow them selves to be pimped and not artists. there was a time when artist were memorable. Im geting more gigs this rear than last year based on my previous work put out.

This is really all anything related to coming up, getting noticed and growing your network comes down to.

The Product sells. You just gotta have what they're buying.

I can honestly say business has never been better, lets not forget, that maybe album sales are down - but in reality, never in the history of mankind has there ever been more music being shared, and listened to. At this point in time, there is change occurring, records are not being sold - when there is change, it take time to get used to. Innovation within your business has to take place in order to survive and to grow. Regardless of if your an MC or a DJ or a producer, its time to think outside the box. Because if your not making money, I guarantee you its because your trying to sell your music in the year 2009 like it was 1995 - and that doesn't make any cents... does it!?
