Do i have to record audio in order to hear my syncing??

I have my mpc 1000 midi synced(midi beat clock) to pro tools 8.Im using trilogy for my bassline with a midi channel assigned and everything.I can only hear both synced with the mpc track recordin but i wanna hear both without recording anything. Is there sumthin i need to check off in PT? I know theres a way around this.It would suck if u have actually record just to hear MPC & VST's together.

In PT:

Set up/midi....add your devices according to manufacturer and model

Check the items in your device menu

Options/midi thru

Set tempo on PT edit window

Midi out in PT ..midi in on MPC

Press play on PT

Because grammar on this site can be so dismayingly terrible, I figured this thread title was a mis-spelling of the word "singing."

And, of course, I sighed.

Now that would have been a dumb question.
