EQ hints (hiphop beats)

hi there again,

i just wonder who uses Eq alot and what kind. more boosts or cuts, cause most is sequenced stuff(hiphop beats), i think there is not that much to cut even, when you use a synth like a motif or some else.

what the best eq type for tracking hiphop in your opinion?

i use parametric alot. even filters like shermann do nice stuff.
mostly i like small Q's with a lil boost to it on the frequency i want
to enchance.

highcut and lowcut to melt tracks togehter.

i suppose it depends a lot on what you want to achieve with your eq?

boost/cuts doesn't matter whatever it takes to sound good. This usually goes more for the drums and bass especially the lows and low mid to sound clean and tight yet fat.

When you're using software eqs, you have to watch out when boosting the high end with cheap ones. Things can get grainy to my ears.
