definitely, but as with anything use in moderation, you can easily over-do it when it comes to the low end

make sure you have good monitoring and you can hear what the plugs are doing.

I use them sometimes on Lead synths lacking bass, to add a nice lower octave. I don't know if It would sound good adding something like that to an already prominent kick drum though. Especially if it already has sub bass on it.

these plugins are actually adding harmonics (not lower octave) to the original sounds. it makes the subbass sound louder on soundsystems that cannot play the lower octave.
(you might have some issues with monitoring if you seem to think that it's adding lower octave. the lower octave is probably there even without the plugin, but you cannot hear it well, but with the harmonics added by rbass, our brain tells us that we hear the fundamental tone, even if there are *only* its harmonics in reality and the fundamental is missing in the sound)

They're like seasoning salt for bass.

They're like lube for bass.

They're like ....

Run em on an aux and you'll work alot less harder managing your bass.

This way you can directly turn the effect down without effecting the gain staging on your kick, bass or whatever.

I just label it as my sub buss.

Then you can just blend to taste.

Use of a subwoofer is crucial to really take advantage of this plug in and AVOID its caveats.

Otherwise you'll see threads like "I inserted MaxxBass and my mix shrunk.."

Peace
Illumination

Wow that's great, do you do it for tenor/soprano vocals only?

Why would you use rbass for tenor or soprano vocals only?

For real!

Many people do, including myself as well. As with anything though, you gotta use your ears and proper judgement to decide whether it's needed or not.

I can imagine a bunch of people reading this thread running out there and getting maxbass to throw on everything now. Might as well throw some A1 on their salad while their at it.

or tape.

Or just get a good 808 sample to begin with.

I prefer the hardware units that do this sort of thing like the dbx 120(x,A,_).

And yes LA2A sounds awesome, for a cheaper alternative, try the PRO VLA (I or II), works in a pinch, but different sound, still better than Rbass.

Peace

these are handy plugins. i used some rbass "small speaker prep" on an aux send for this low sub bass line just last week, now you can hear it on tv speakers too

it's easy to overuse though, and can quickly eat up your overall volume if your not careful...
