| in the beginning it was Myspace, then came Facebook's moment, now everybody's getting on Twitter, this run for the coolest social network (which stays cool for a few months before a new one comes to the hype) seems pretty stupid to me. I really enjoied the benefits i got in music/biz connection from Myspace, but i'm not going to sign up to a new social network every 2 months just for being "cool"! |

| Most of the messages you get at social networking sites are something like:"hey ur beatz sound FAT!! can u give me that 2nd beat for my new album? it's a no budget thing, online free release though..." However we got some decent contacts through myspace as well. Guess you never know. Definitely worth doing internet promo as well as the above mentioned print/radio method. | oh, and BTW - Twitter does not negate the need for a Facebook. It is a conversational tool - thats all. Facebook is not popular because it is "fashionable" it is popular because Myspace got far to "noisy", thats it. The MS interface sucked & Facebook is clean (they also do not let people friendblast - to have a fan on an artist fanpage they request you - not the other way around...) |
