Microphone best fit for recording rap vocals and m/f singing vocals (mic specific)

Sup Slutz,
ive been searching round the forums for the last couple days tryna rack up as much info on the AKG C 414 B xl II/s and the Neumann u87ai, besides what i can read on the dealer sites. i currently use an AKG c3000b but i wanna up grade and these are the two mics im lookin at. So i just wanted to know if neone has used any of these mics and if u could possibly drop an opinion or give me some details. Or if ne of you think i should go with something completely different id love to hear ur suggestions it would be most appreciated!

***the mic would be going into a digi003 control surface PT 7.4****

I also wanna give a shout out to Ben if you could chime in (or ne one who has purchased one) on your Bees Neez mics ive been reading alot of good things about them. the fact that u build these by hand is pretty ill! PROPS!

You need to get a good preamp if your gonna drop cash like that on a mic or you wont be happy with the results, but thats just my .02
Philly is right, there is no "rap" mic, or one mic that is the best on every voice for that matter. You should be a lot more specific on what kind of voices you want to record with, not the specific genre you are recording. You will get alot more answers to your question if you ask the right question in the first place.

That said, if you read half of the posts before this you would see alot of people suggest a sm7b for loud agressive vocals, and commonly most commercial rap/r&b is recorded with a u87 or the c800g though an avalon 737 or neve preamp, but there are still a ton of other choices that can give you the results you want. Still at the end of the day talent will take you farther than any equipment you buy.
