HELP...! Does anyone know how to do these effects??? Or What they're even called???

Ive been trying to do these 2 effects for the longest on my tracks, but I have no idea how to do them, or what they're even called... Take a listen right at about 2:38

I know he's on autotune.... but I'm asking about the effects when it sounds like his voice is kind of fluctuating and shutting down??? Its kinda hard to explain. But take a listen right at 2:38

Anyyy help is appreciated. Thanks guys

actually on second listen it's just tapestop. you do it with automation. Set the up and down speed and it's golden

It's vari-fi thru the autotune. I tracked 3/4 of this joint.

@konkaos
vari-fi on the insert after autotune?

@serttz77
I just tried it. Doesn't sound good on regular rap. It works better on that singing type of track. I can do it to an instrumental track but it defeats the purpose. If you have PT then get vari-fi. If u run VST's the tapestop is the freeware to get for the same effect.

Si I downloaded tapestop and its pretty nice... even though I dont know to actually record and keep what I edited with the VST, its like.. once I set the time and everything. It doesn't play unless Im manually doing it with my hand. And, Whats the other effect???? Were his voice sounds like it's skipping, or fluctuating ????

You can also do that effect very easily using "beat repeat" in ableton live. You'd set it to 1/8th note and then there is a pitch control where you can make the pitch dive down like that on some of the repeats.

Adobe audition also has a really good pitch shifting thing which can do something similar to vari-fi. What's cool with the Adobe Audition one is that you can draw the curves however you want so you can pitch shift up and down in any way you like, where vari-fi only does "wind up" and "slow down"

Vari fi is sick, but its not in LE, only in Pro Tools HD. I think that's Digi just trying to be cheap and keep features out of LE, so you have one more reason to buy HD!

It comes FREE with Pro Tools 8.0 LE & HD and it's always been a plugin available for LE & HD
