Good question....I assume you mean the VI that's on the Timbo's screen near the end - playing the crazy SIDstation type sounds? I'd love to know as well... it doesn't look like QuadraSid.

How sweet lookin' is M.I.A. though..... Damn....

Maybe someone who works in forensics can zoom in on that and let us know...

M.I.A. is a hottie no doubt.

looks like Native Instruments Intakt
wich means, Timbaland is not using a intel mac
i thing the reason why he is using Intakt,
there are a millions of librarys, wich you can play in all rates, using the time machine modus.
you can do the same in Kontakt 3 on intel or for better timescratch quality use Digidesign Transfuser (only pro tools).
only problem with transfuser, there are not a millions of librarys yet

the SIDstation sounds like taken from here:
YouTube - Producer Timbaland rips song from finnish musician?
he use the same sound for nelly furtado and 50cent/justin.
sampling 1 tone, using timemachine, playing the melody over, or a new one.
YouTube - 50 Cent AYO Technology feat Justin Timberlake MUSIC VIDEO

Well, i think you guys got it all wrong. As a producer its normal to hire people in to do writing. Its just that the last 10 years the role of the producer has been expanded....BUT no rules !!!!!

It's still a good thing though. Just imagine where you would be right now (creatively) had you known he was using samples. You wouldn't have tried to be better than him or just as good. At the end of the day, at least YOU will be able to say "my tracks are sample free".

Even though he is using samples, he is still the man (in my book). Rap music has been sample based since the beginning. Is it so wrong that Timbo took the road less traveled and found unconventional samples and used them in hip hop?
I could be wrong, but I dont think Tim ever came out and said "yeah, I played/made up that melody". He took the sample game to the next level which is why people think he is so "talented". In a way, he is. Like I said, he took what has been done since the beginning of hip hop to a higher level.

+1 thumbsup It takes skills to put samples together the way he does... Of course ANYBODY can put a beat on a sample... But IMO, sampling is like cooking... Sometimes you can put in too much "seasoning" and ruins the whole essence of dish... Sometimes people don't put enough "seasoning"" and it's just bland...

Tim is like Emeril... They do stuff to shit we wouldn't think about doing or don't know is there... That's why it's amazing when we are like, "That was a sample??" Damn... "That was Lawry's he put in that ice cream??" Damn...

This is all true but I challenge any of you guys to take an old melody, replay it using new synths and produce a song out of it w/ vocals that is remotely close to being as fire as any of tims flips!
