Tracks sent to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC...

How many tracks have you guys sent to your PRO's that were not mixed? Basically, "sent as is"...

BMI,ASCAP ansd SESAC are clearing houses.
You dont send your stuff to them.
Thats not their function.
You sign up as songwriters and if you have a pulishing company, you sign up after you have a song recorded and released
In the event that you have songs recorded and released and played on the radio,tv,etc. they log the airplay and then they send you quarterly statements whuch reflect any activity and payment thereof.

When a song is about to be released, you fill out a form for each song with all the info regarding writers, pubs, record label info, and you send it to them.

I understand that.... I'm with SESAC and what I meant to say was I've uploaded some tracks that weren't "professionally mixed" and they accepted them to be licensed for TV/FILM, etc.. Just wondering if anyone else has done this... Sorry for not being clear...

Umm...I can't speak for SESAC cuz I have no experience with them, but ASCAP and BMI don't give a shit what your music sounds like. It's not their job to care. Nor is it their job to place or license your music. That, my friend, is YOUR job (or your management's job or your record label's job).

ASCAP and BMI just keep track of where and when your music is played, and collect the money to pay you for it. Think of them as the big, bad debt collector man.

Its a damn shame that SO MANY people in the rap/hip hop game dont know shit about the many ways your songs can earn money..provided there are sales and airplay.
Most dont know the meaning of mechanicals, performance income, publishing and how it really works and the division of funds.
there is quite alot to learn if you REALLY want to be in the game and m ake REAL money.
