| Stock digi plug ins are fine for me. If I need feedback with the delays sounding different each time, I just make a feedback loop in PT with eq and whatever else after the delay to get whatever sound I want.

| I really dig the PSP stuff. Simple, easy, just like the hardware and sounds sick. others will recommend the Soundtoys, those are great too. If you have some guitar Sims, you can usually disengage all of the amp and cab setting and just use the spring verb and the delays. Those can be tasty. I have use the McDSp for that and Amp2. yut yut |

I even use the flanger, rev, and all the other toys in amplitube and just remove all amp sim/cab sim. The effects are pretty dirty in that Amplitube. I saved each effect in amp as a custom preset, Phaser, Delay, Rev, Spring, etc. There are two sections to use. The pedals and/or the master effects rack. | |

| I'm loving the stock Pro Tools delays, along with the new AIR delays they've included with PT8. I have the Massey Delay demo, but haven't had a chance to mess with it much. But from what I've heard, that sound pretty cool too. But for all around, everyday, good everytime and anywhere you want it delay, the Pro Tools stock stuff does a very good job IMO. Lots of useful presets too.

| with the sarcasm button off, can someone tell me what makes a good delay besides ease of use? Also do you guys always go stereo on the delays? say a mono sound, to stereo delay? and to answer the question, I just use the stock Apple plugs |

| Stock Cubase Classic Delay (free) Waves Taps To your question, for me what makes for a good delay is independent control over many different parameters (especially if stereo) and/or ease of use/setup... depending on what you're using it for. The easier the UI & ergonomics, the more control allowed, the better. I don't find sound quality to be a general concern beyond things like hi-lo pass filters and of course the level of feedback control. Yes, I often send to a stereo delay from a mono track to help simulate the depth / width / size of a space. Sure. |
