Danja video

Here's an interesting look at one of his tracks, and the processes behind it in detail.

.............I thought it was quite telling how he seemed a little vague about the mix side of things........saying he left things like eq and compression to the engineer. I'm not a mix engineer but I spend waay too much time tweaking comps and eq's time that would be better spent on writing, arrangement etc, I'm sure I'm not alone here.

I've said this a gazillion times but it can NEVER be said enough......A great arrangement (properly chosen sounds, instruments, and placement of those in the song) pretty much mixes itself.

Ryst I'm not going to disagree with u but i think there must be a reason why Dave pensado et al get paid $10, 000 to mix a song and it aint cause the arrangement sucks. Mix engineers mix and producers produce. What came over in the video is that Danja plays to his own strengths which I suspect aren't mixing or maybe he just likes to come across a little naive on that front or maybe he's just been spoilt always having a good engineer around. It isn't going to stop me trying to get good mixes but i will probably never be a great or even good mix engineer.

She's already hot in my book cause she can mix better than you!! Besides, any more hotness would likely get her even less respect.

hey you really think that dropping vocal effect was in there? Sounded like a sample when I first heard it but yet again the whole beat was tracked through the mpc4000 and mixed all gritty.

nah thats not the drop, but i recognized the crying vocal, its a soprano "ah" he did some effects, proly with the modulation and stuff, and yes i though it was a sample too.
