Seems like putting the chorus first is more in more common.Im just curious as to how some of yall like to arange your beats as far as where you like to drop a break?
Like Intro-C-V-C-V-C-Break-V-Out or is IN-C-V-C-V-Break-C-V-Out.

Also are bridges uncommon in hip hop beats?Im confused on the difference in a bridge from a break. Can someone breakdown the differences and where they usuallu occur as a starting point for a noobie?

I always thought the bridge was used to build to the chorus, where as, a break drops the instruments before the chorus.

Drop the beat where ever you like. Change it up a little. I used to always drop the beat at the same place when I first started arranging. I'd like to think I've grown since the last project.

I think hes using the term break in place of breakdown maybe? This is where the"middle eight" would go in a traditional song arrangement.

In hip hop it's like a second chorus or chant and usually cuts the last verse to 8 bars instead of 16. 50 does this alot.

A bridge and a break are very different in my opinion. A bridge is a full on section that sounds different from all the other sections and a lot of the time features its own chord changes. A bridge always comes before the last chorus although sometimes I like to put a break inbetween the last hook and the brg if the transition is to abrupt. Breaks are usually not full sections. They typically last around 4 bars and are used to clear the air. If you have a crazy busy hook with tons of energy, going into a sparse verse can feel a little uneven or like going from 100mph to 30. A break can help smooth the transition and guide the listener to the next section. I have used breaks as short as 1 but usually its 2 or 4 bars. Usually you drop almost everything out except for whatever key elements you want to keep. Usually I keep whatever the main instrument is going to be in the section after the break. You can also just drop out all the instruments and leave the drums. The best thing to do is analyze a bunch of songs and write out the song form with bar numbers and notes on what elements come in and out.
