Spotted an interesting article on Danja Handz..

Danja on producing tracks for Madonna, T.I., Britney Spears, Ciara, Cassie and more

I like it.. Downsizing to an Imac an logic 8... works for me too!

2. i like putting guitars in my production
3. creating my own drums
4. like using funny synths
5. me and my crew do movie scores also

we kinda like the same stuff, but its obvious whos better lol

also i like what he said. i think he said he had about 12-13 keyboards and realized he didnt need them all...lol which is true

except that Blaze's "console" is really just a piece of sh*t.

i'd hardly call that thing a console. feels more like a toy.

Yeah, I know, he should totally ditch that thing. I have the perfect place for him to dispose of it, too...my living room.

I'm curious when these hip hop producers say they're scoring films when I have yet to hear anything that resembles a score. Soundtrack maybe, but not a score.

Okay, other than John Williams and James Horner, and maybe Michael Giacchino and John Ottman, who is really doing full "scores" these days? And please, please don't bring up Hans Zimmer.

WRT Hip-Hop producers and scores, Massive Attack did very nice work for Unleashed, and BT did some really interesting stuff for Monster. RZA's stuff for Ghost Dog was pretty cool, too.

Haha nope, definitely in agreement with you about Hans Zimmer, the Dr. Dre of film scoring.

RZA has scored a few movies. Barbershop 2 was his biggest commercial effort.

+1

I'm sick of the sonic bombardment that's going on ATM.
Suppose that's partly why I liked No Country for Old Men.

Bigger than Kill Bill 1+2??
Not only did he have a big hand in picking some of the music. He did the sound design as well.

I actually don't remember hearing any music in that film, except maybe when the credits started rolling

how exactly? And danny elfman is easily the pharrell of scoring. Dude is f'ing awesome I am actually going to try learning some of the charlie and the chocolate factory score this weekend just for vibe and new production/arrangement ideas.

great article

You can really tell the guy is brilliant just by the way he speaks about music. Will look more into his productions in the future. Hes got an adromeda a6 analog synth in his list, im sure theres some 808s and other classic drum machines in there too. I think by consolidating he means scaling down, but hes still got massive resources.

yeah Im sure he still whips out a lot of the keyboards just probably doesnt have all hooked up at once. Also he records loads of live stuff especially with drums.

For all you polow da don preset haters- I found danja's preset for danity kane "pretty boy" yesterday on the virus. Its the main arpeggiator sound- He just modified the way it arpeggiates.

FYI..
Hans Zimmer is an old friend of mine from when I worked out of his studio in London.
He is one of the best in the biz and a real great guy.
