Thread Starter | Question for Sigma & Philly Soul Man
Lots of Philly Soul out there on the campaign trail! O'Jay's: "Give the People What They Want" McFadden & Whitehead: "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" both are AMAZING records to me! Anything you'd like to share about the songs/artists/session? I love the buzzyness of the snare rolls in "Ain't no..." bottom snare mic? How about that famous flange on "People"? Tape? Eventide? Who's still getting paid?

Ill answer the getting paid part first. As far as the musicians go, we continue to get residuals on all usages including film, television ads and the like. Some of the most used songs have been Disco Inferno,Love Train,For The Love Of Money,Aint No Stopping Us Now,Ill Be Around and many more. For the most part only the top of the snare was miked with a 57. Aint no stopping drum part was played by Keith Benson Flanger on "People" was an MXR. The Sigma days were quite special and the highlight of my life. And speaking of the campaign trail, the wife,g-son and I went to the Obama rally in west Philly today. It was off the chain.

Sweet $$$$ Did Gamble/Huff get to keep their publishing? They used the MXR stomp box on the drums? Keith Benson played his ass off! Recorded to a click? |

The MXR was a rack mount not a stompbox. Keith Benson wasnt a regular member of our team. He only played on a handful of sessions...no click.Nobody ever used a click on our sessions. They didnt need to. | |
