its so easy to skip over an email which gets marked as read and just ends up being deleted.

i know of one product not related to audio that im skipping on because i inquired over a month ago about the finish on the particular piece and have not received a reply. so **** em. 60 bucks i can spend elsewhere.
lol, that reminds of a company i got my business cards from a couple of times, the last time it never arrived, took forever to get back to me, then i got 'due to problem of our email we never received your inquiry'. so i sent them an email pointing to the fact they have no problem constantly sending me their ads but can't seem to find my emails and such. they got back asked me to explain with the info, then it was rinse and repeat once i did that. since gave up. wasn't much money but it pissed me off. another situation with a well known music retailer, and many will say despite their size they're very hands on and have great cust. ser., but i'm still waiting on catalogs i was assured would come and a couple of unanswered emails, but that hasn't really tarnished my image of the place, but at the same time, i won't bother askin' again.

Just wanted to clarify because it seemed like a couple people here didn't understand what I was saying...which is probably my fault. I'm not complaining. I actually don't really give a shit too much, kinda like Rick. Just pointing out a couple things that we all have to deal with as full time dudes at some point or another. But it comes with the territory so I fully accept it. But I can't really complain. And even though this wasn't really the point of Benny's thread..... I'm doing well. And so is Benny!

to the original post - I would not stress it - it can be frustrating though sometimes..common courtesy in general in today's society has depleted drastically - and when I show it (because my momma didn't raise no foo) at times I get awkward/stunned looks...trips me out..I just go about my day though..

A record is a record and a song is an embodiment of a musical composition which is made into a record.
You should always make yourself clear when you refer to the various terminology which is used by recording professionals.

Nine out of ten times, I never hear a response back; am I the only one that feels this is rude? Is it so difficult to respond with as little as a "Thanks for your time"?

When I'm in the similar position of calling around town to hammer out logistics for my clients' records, not returning calls to studios and mastering engineers with whom I've been in touch would certainly reflect poorly on me in the professional community. Even a simple "thanks, but no thanks" works.

Maybe it's the Midwestern-raised politeness my mother beat into me as a little kid, but these non-responses strike me as rude and unprofessional.

This rant belongs in the Moan Zone, I suppose, but oddly enough, this all seems to happen almost exclusively with the rap/hip-hop set. What's up with that?!?

My mother would be very disappointed in you. Not angry, just disappointed.
same way down South. At times it lots of calls and emails...but no go. The funniest thing is its kinda hard to predict who will be a go. Had a few people that I was like.."Naa they bullshittin" but ended up becoming good clients.

I ran across this thread and I thought, "Is this about me?". I know I sent a pm to you asking this very question. In my case, I have to budget the cost. You have good rates. I guess that is why I say thanks in advance because it takes time to respond to someone.

Don't worry Heezi, I'm sure it's not about you. You're fine.

I'm one of those guys that have learned to say thank you for your time when replied to in detail. I still feel this is the appropriate manner to communicate, but there are times where I've felt I was unnecessarily mailing busy people my thank you's because they didn't need that kind of courtesy (hope I'm expressing myself correctly here, english isn't my first language).

So in other words, it might not always be bad etiquette that makes people not answer like that. In some cases, it might just be people thinking that's the appropriate way to do things..

In the case of asking someone for rates/advice/etc, you should never feel it's unnecessary to respond with a thank you. If nothing else, it lets the mixer/engineer/whoever know that you received his response. And unless you're particularly long-winded in your "thank yous", I don't think anyone, no matter how busy they are, wouldn't have the time to check a two-word email.
