MACS!!
A hit record is not determined by your computer platform.
Your TALENT is what determines a hit.

Well I could always replace my Dell Quad core with an X core.. but I can't upgrade my Mac to anything other than what it is already. And if you don't want to spend 4000 dollars every 4 years, that's a BIG DEAL.

**** me ppl & there camps make an advert with jerry seinfeld & cats feel like contributing to the wealth of the worlds richest man makes them an individual.

BTW The cost of all these computer system is next to northing in comparison to a good bit of outboard.

Computer systems. both PC & Mac, will continue to increase in power & speed both of which will be irrelevant to most music makers as if it work fine 4 all your needs now it will continue to be just as good 5 years from now, but some users will continue to feel inadequate as there next door neighbour has a faster car in racing red LOL. Cats making money running PT on a G4 and good desk must be laughing at this shit.

Lol, on my 7 year old mac (maybe 8) I just open up the computer WHILE IT'S RUNNING and hot swap anything I want... take a HD out or put another one in.. WTF are u talking about? I don't even need a screwdriver, the side just swings down with the pull of a clip??

And Apple's marketing edge might be elitest, yes.. but they're still more stable machines.

Do PC's win in some areas?? HELL YESS!!! but overall, especially as an audio guy, I'm much happier on a mac any day

I like command, and hate control.. I use both, and for audio, it's no big deal......

HOWEVER, I had a job once doing repetitive data entry stuff -- using control broke my hand, where as "command" never does because u use your thumb very comfortably, not your finger stretched out to the corner of the keyboard

I really had to bite my tongue on that one also.. Afaik, the Mac Pro is one of the most easily upgradeable towers on the market (except the motherboard.. but thats really never a simple task)

it's in reference to the comment dude quoted, which was a sheeps argument.

a glorified calculator/tapemachine = computer/daw. when i hear a song, not only can i not tell which daw is used (and i don't have the knowledge to establish and then compare songs made on various boards since the industry birth), i sure as hell can't tell which computer o/s was used by listening. if someone can, i would like to know how. it's whatever get's you to the endpoint, eff everything else

obviously some shouldn't go the pc route, you know the ones that have a habit of clickin' on any and everything, jumpin' on every email, and manage to get damn near every virus/trojan/worm, even the long dead obselete ones, via bootcamp, not even on a full pc. of course, they shouldn't be sent any word or excel doc/xls regardless of o/s, where the truly nasty shit exists.

Yah exactly.. if you suck with computers, Macs are fool-proof. Can't go wrong. IF you know what you're doing, PC's can get you there for a lot less.

And Macs get you there with a lot less headaches.

Not to mention you get to drive the best DAW on the market on the way there.

We spend thousands on pre's, eq's, comps, mp's, workstations etc and somehow the argument that PCs are cheaper is supposed to be a viable point?

Money is no object. For music, Mac wins.

Can you make good music on a PC? OBVIOUSLY.

Doesn't mean I want to.

why would cheaper be the only argument? less expensive with better specs, like sonica/adk built pc's, would be the argument if there should even be one. honestly, i have more headaches with the g5 mac running logic 7 at work than the p4 dell running cubase/ptmp at home (not to mention true adc in cubase but that's another useless cliche, daw beef).

4 years ago, i knew nada about computers, got one and never got a virus, d.o.s., trojan, etc and i do the one thing you're not supposed to do with either o/s, use it for the net as well. this will change when i get the parts and build my next pc myself (figured, despite being a really large calculator, seeing how it's a major part of my musicmaking and mixing, as well as, entertainment, i should try to overstand it as much as i can without havin' my eyes glaze over with ultra tech talk/info. it has my stuff at it's mercy, it's best not to be ig'nant about that fact, imo),

but i figure if i can venture into the seedy internets and constant emails wanting to help you with your johnson and good honest nigerians asking for my credit card number or cash (i should have paid extra to hide my website/domainname from these asswipes) and not have it damage my computer, i can't see why others can't.

to each his/her own....just don't blindly trust the makers on the stability/performance/etc and find out what's under the hood and what can be done to improve it and keep it truly efficient.

Not sure...but I know I love my custom built PC I have a mac that I use as a sound module with logic only..everything else is PC w/ Cubase 4 though..
