we need a mix engineer!

whats up guys. My group is about to start pushing a new single. We're doing a 12 week radio campaign targeting national college radio, and satallite radio. There is a video in the works for this single as well. We mixed the current version we have ourselves, but we're not engineers, and would like a better mix for the version we're pushing.

we're indie, so we don't have a lot of money. If some of you could inbox me some prices on what it'd cost us for you to mix this down for us i'd appreciate it.

The song is called "Red, Green, Blue". It's not typical hip hop, and it's dope.
You can hear the single here: http://www.somobe.com/RedGreenBlue.mp3

Best,
J

btw, we are kinda getting known, so it could be good exposure as well.

I'm still tracking our album but I'd love to take a crack at it. I've always liked your music from before. I think I did a dumb remaster with one of your tracks a while ago. Before I started hiring a mastering engineer.

What format do you use?? Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper???

How about you give me credit for mixing it and a shoutout?

Sound like a fair price?

Check my myspace page out for examples of my mixes. I mix OTB with 24 channels and hardware.

You still using the Peluso for vox??

Peace
Illumination

Good Song

The dude above got the price you can get. I'll do it for forty bucks. The track sounds pretty good, it really wouldn't need any magic tricks. The only thing I'm wondering about is your high bass content and if the track can be multi-tracked at less volume (the high mids seem to be too heavily weighted and the track feels like its too constant, both things are pointing to a bounce that's too loud in my mind).

Otherwise, vocal compression and maybe a touch of eq on the vocals as well. But the drums are tight, the synth is expansive and colorful, the bass is a bit too background for my taste (could probably benefit from a little boost in the 180Hz-260Hz range).

There, now you can mix it. Can I still have forty bucks?

Hey i'll do it, I like the song. I got some new gear i'd like to work with on this.

I've been mixing FOH for a couple of years, and just started mixing in the studio. I'll do my best because i wanna get good at it. Might take a while though.

Goodluck!

3) Acapella
4) TV track

just a few different bounces. This song is for sure going to be pushed to film by the way.

You can upload them on a file sharing service like 4shared.com and share the filelinks with those who are interested.

I'm interested as well. That track sounds cool.

Can you mention specifically what you want in the TV mix? Is it for performance purposes? What kind of language needs to be edited, if any, and how do you want it edited (cut, blipped, reversed, replaced with sfx, etc)?

Do you need a clean acapella as well?

Try to be as specific as possible with your needs, regarding the stems, and I think it'll benefit everyone (you especially!).

Ok here goes...

TV Mix (Take out all vocals during the verses, leave vocals on chorus)
As far as editing out profanity, there is no profanity in any of our music, so that makes it real easy. The TV mix is scrictly for television purposes, not performance.

oh, and deadline, we'd really like to have the final by saturday the 11th.

let me know if you need any more clarity on anything!

Thanks for the hasty response.

I'm a bit unclear on one thing: what is the purpose of this kind of TV mix? Is it simply for use as background music? The mixes I've done for television have never followed such guidelines.

Yes it's just for background music. I thought it was pretty standard, that's how we've always delivered them to production houses.

btw guys, i'm bouncing the files down now, there is about 2.5gigs worth so i think i'm going to put it on a share site. i always get booted off of ftp when upload that much data, don't know why. the song is 32 tracks, so not too bad.

I'll do the mastering for free once you get the mixes you are happy with.
