phatmatik pro making my samples sound thin...

first off i love this program. great workflow. load samples, cut them up and play melodies. fast. fantastic
i run it as a vsti in sonar. and the problem ive been having is that the sample sounds different when played through phatmatik. thinner.
ive been getting around this by loading the sample i was playing with on another track and cutting it up in sonar into the same slices as in phatmatik and then lining them up with the rendered midi from phat.
kinda puts a dent in the whole workflow i mentioned.
anyone know whats up? anyone experiencing the same thing?

Definately, I've found the same thing. Phatmatik Pro sounds like crap!!!!! Wafer thin.

If I'm working with REX files ITB, I much prefer the Reason REX2 player, sounds waaay better.

With the MPC editor, all thats occuring is you gathering the sounds and setting up your drum program, and the editor copying the files from the computer to your disk. Files are not being modified by the program unless you choose to lower the bit rate of the samples during the process of creating your drum program.

What you are hearing must be a result of something else, probably with your MPC.

Speaking of which, I see a lot of dudes use those very shit, red and yellow tip unbalanced cables that you have to peel apart when you first get them, for running their stereo channel from their MPC into their daw. Those are the same cheap dudes who complain how certain MPC converters degrade their sound.

I noticed a lot of times, different soft samplers play sounds different. Since I posted it, everyone thinks I'm stupid.

no, there is no problem, when i put the wave files on discette and than in the mpc. the sound is exactly the same, but when i use the mpc editor, the sound is different. i dont know why, but its true!

Seriously?

I have no idea then man. I use the MPC Editor anytime I need to make quick programs for the XL or 3000, and I have never experience a degradation in sound. In fact I remember trying to do a listening test a month or two ago to see if sound was being degraded during the whole process and I came to the conclusion that there was no audible difference. Not sure what version you are using and if that makes a difference but the lastest version 3 should be all gravy.
