same song and dance, eminen....808 kicks?

Pharrell - can i have it like that = 808 kicks?
SSAD might very well be an 808 kick (layered with some other kick at times as you can hear the kick sound does change, as we discussed in
the In da Club thread). BUT it could probably also be some other low kick. You might want to check you http://samples.kb6.de/downloads.php
where you can download a bunch of free drum machine samples. Just got mentioned in its own thread by someone a few days ago.
Play around with these sounds and you'll find some kicks from other drum machines that are similiar to 808 kicks in terms of being very low.

Don't feel mocked or talked down by people, but the thing is, these questions about 808 kicks here and there can seem a little pointless. You know how 808 kicks do sound, you know you can pitch them up or down, eq them, distort and layer them with other drums and do any other number of things to change their sound until their origin might even be unrecognizable. The same goes for the aforementioned other kick drums from non-808 machines that you might tweak to sound fairly similiar to 808 drums.

So, I might sneak in a sarcastic or ironic remark at times, but nonetheless you'll find my posts being forthcoming and hopefully helpful.

So keep your questions coming.

I hope that 808s die the same death as auto tune hopefully will.
RIP auto tune and 808s

In my opinion the only thing that's wrong with 808s is the amount of (often disturbingly aweful) music they being utilized in.

But +1 on getting rid of Auto Tune.
When it's finally discredited there will be so called AA meetings, which might go like this:

Person "Hello, my name is ___ and I'm an Auto Tuner..."

Group
"Hi ___!"

Person
"Well, I got my pitch corrected for the last 10 years but I'm learning to hit notes by myself now for a week and I feel so good even when I'm
a little off... I feel just so incredibly... human again... and the best thing is, people are actually listening to me again.
"

Good tools to correct a singer might be practice and singing lessons on top of at least a tiny little bit of talent maybe ;-)

kanye album 808s and heartbreaks uses an 808 in EVERY track for the drums?
I havnt really checked it out, cause as soon as i hear that vocal effect auto tune i think its called (?).... i just have to switch it off, i hate it that much. And i hate whoever uses that effect. And for someone to make a whole album singing like that? (sigh)

I do recall one single off the album, i think tuned down 808 kick....booming so damn much it did the job of the bass....like two or 3 diff tuned kicks were in effect the bassline.......is this correct?
