what do ISPs do to stop child molesters? i've heard it was cops posing as kids on the internet that catch most of them

How are ISPs profiting off of downloads? they're getting paid the same either way, regardless of what the user is doing with the connection.

and i guarantee in you user agreement with your ISP that somewhere in the fine print they wash themselves of all responsibility of what the end user is doing.

i hate this whole thing about if they cant download it they will buy it. just cause u cant get it for free does not mean that u wont buy it... they want the sell micheal jackson thriller numbers or they are not happy? dream on thats once in a lifetime.
lil wayne sold 2 mil cds in a month so thats bad?
the new batman movie made second most of all time is that bad?
some songs like souljay boy get over 3 mil legal downloads so its bad? lol

i dont get how people can say sales are so bad when they still sell a mil in a week and still make millions at the box office... they must be smokin something. i went to go watch batman even when a friend told me has has a dvd quality rip of it...

about the whole thing that they think they gonna stop people from copying stuff.. remeber police, goverment have to live by rules, these guys dont... police is how many? people who copy is millions? billions? just pointless to fight it, kinda like putting copy protection on a dvd or a game.

Lots of ISPs block child pornography; not because of ethics, but because they see the writing on the wall. Someday -- soon, I hope -- they will be forced to block other kinds of web based crimes, too.

The main purposes for fast (= expensive) connections are 1) porn, and 2) stolen music/movies/software.

oh yes and then there is the question about albums.
the album game is gone. people dont want albums nomore they just want that one new hit on the radio? its a singles game, i think sometime in the future albums might not even be around nomore, cause everyone knows that on some cds u get 1 or 2 good songs the rest are junk.

This is especially shaky for ISPs right now because of leaps in cell phone techonology. If you do all your web browsing on your phone and are too scared to pirate stuff, why would you keep your broadband connection at home when you can just use your phone instead?

The only reason why ISPs would support this is if they had (and some do) their own digital media stores in place.

Pretty much. bootlegging had been a part of the business for a very long time, Even before DOWNLOADS.

You also have to think about the this:

If P2P site get shut down, how many folks would actual BUY what they once to download free??. Would sales really increase that much? But I guess a few more sales is better than none.

Just a thought.
