Mixing Of The Game's "LAX" Is Horrible Compared With "The Documentary"

The overall mixing and mastering of LAX is truly horrible compared with the near perfect The Documentary. The drums all sound different on each song: on one song the snare will be tiny, then on another song the snare will be huge. The bass is mixed differently on every song, the vocals vary from song to song.

It sounds like a different producer on every song (yes, I know this was the case, but at least The Documentary had a consistent feel).

You can even tell what software was used to create some of the songs, like that awful DJ Toomp produced "House Of Pain" uses almost entirely Reason presets and has that muddy Reason sound to it.

3,2,1...

but... i've been checking it (on consumer cans though).
don't know, kinda like at least some of the mixes, not the obvious "let's knock out some ear drums" approach.
"ya heard" and "cali sunshine" sound pleasing imo.

i bought the cd and didnt like how it sounded in my car, but i then listened to it on my computer with ipod headphones and it sounded great once i could hear more of the details, especially the track with Chrisette Michelle...

that being said, i dont know how anyone can tell what software was used, I use reason at times along with hardware and other softsynths, that being said I wasnt feeling the Toomp track, a HUGE surprise for me. I did love this album as a whole tho, the deluxe version from Best Buy is great
