| Lives for gear | Event 20/20p 06 Event 20/20bas?Ken
Hey Ken to answer your question from the "what city to live in to be a producer" forum. Yes IM ready for those sacrifices and hours.I can and will do it.Sorry but that forum went a little crazy so I stopped reading it.BUt anyways do you have the Event 20/20 bas or 20/20p?So your saying that the 20/20 are better to mix on than the ASp 8 even though the ASP 8 are a little clearer? Are both end results the same or is one better than the other and does this go for vocals as well? What boom box setup do you have.

Obviously not better to mix on but easier to mix on right? But does your mixes come out better with the ASp8 cause their clearer or doe it really make a difference?

no experience with the asp's, but the 20/20 bas are excellent monitors. I "upgraded" to TR8XL's , which was more of a down-grade to me. I thought the 20/20's sounded much nicer , less boxy. im on dynaudio bm6a's now though. good luck. |

There are certain things i like better and worse about each combination. My sub is a JBL LSR 12P. Originally i wasnt aware that there's an 80Hz low cut button on the back of the SP8's that you are supposed to push in if your using it with a sub. Obviously thats a big diffrrence, and my SP8's pair up much better with my sub now. I did switch back to the SP8's again from the 20/20's (which are still on one of my production rigs with a KRK Rocket 10 Sub). I think the SP8's are clearer than the 20/20's, but actually the SP8's sound pretty different from my boom box reference speakers, whereas my 20/20's sounded much more like a bigger representation of the boom box. So, its a little more work now to get mixes sounding right on both big and small speakers, but i think i'm adjusted to it now. I dont think you can go wrong either way. And i certainly prefer Event's over Mackie's or Genelec's or KRK's, but ya know, everyone is different. -Ken Lewis | |
