Sample Libraries of MPC-type sounds?

Hi There

I work in music production for TV, but I'm from a very indie rock background. Everytime I need to make a beat I KNOW I'm going to make something that sounds fake! Mostly I'm using the sounds in stylus RMX, but I really need to up my game.

I could get an MPC, but I really want those kinds of sounds just being triggered in the box, so I can program the way I'm used to.

Does anyone have suggestions for the must-have basic hip-hop and R&B sample libraries. I already have reason, but that program sounds so grainy and small to me. I'm looking for straight up libraries of basic urban kits and percussion...

Any tips for the noob?

Load them in your favorite sampler and load some mpc grooves to your daw... No need to buy an mpc necessarily.

IMO, MPC type sounds are any sounds that you sequence within the MPC and run through its DA converters.

You can buy/download stuff people have ran through a MPC before, but over time it would probably make more sense to just buy a MPC if hardware flavour is what you are looking for.

Thanks guys, I just picked up the Quadra bundle and I think that's going to make a big difference. I was thinking about getting an MPC - but a hardware sampler? That's just so.... the past! In the future, we'll program beats with our minds! Oh, wait, we already do....

If your making stuff that is not sounding right with Stylus then it is your programming, not your sounds. Sorry.

You're close... Its the past, the present, and the future...

When the software we are using right now becomes outdated or obsolete sometime later dudes will still be programing beats with the same old hardware or running their sounds through certain hardware pieces to improve its sonic flavour. Overall, hardware is a better long term investment IMO. If all you see when you look at a MPC is a hardware sampler, you are probably better off sticking with what you got anyway. Hope you enjoy Quadra
