Thread Starter | inexpensive sampler for drums can anyone recommend of an inexpensive good sounding sampler, or at least normal sounding like the mpc without all the fancy features ( maybe something that needs a midi keyboard for control) ... I'm not cheap when it comes down to my gear... but in this case I only need a sampler to load a few WAV. files and polish them through my signal chain... and please no software... I'm already through with all the loading and upgrading stuff... thanx |

I would suggest you look into the later akai S series samplers. The S3000 sound is every bit as good as a mpc3000 but also has a lot more features.

Thread Starter | thanx for the responses... but isn't there a smaller device... something more like an ipod specifically for uploading WAV. / MP3 files with midi hook ups and a couple of analog in/outs ???... i've been searching online I can't believe they haven't come up with something like this... specially m-audio is always making affordable little things like this.... the suggestions I got from you guys are good but maybe I should've taken out the word "mpc" on my first post... ikia s950s a little to much for me... maybe a little outdated also... the Boss SP303 / 404 is more like it but I'm a little concern about sound quality... any other suggestions are welcome... thanx again... thumbsup |

I would look into DJ gear. There are some samplers for DJs that are really simple to work with for live shows and stuff. I'll bet some of them sound good too but I don't know which ones. | |

| you want something like the BOSS SP line, or a used mpc1k...sound quality will be just fine. shit maybe even a mpc500 would work for you since you're not going to be doing much editing on it. |

| How much you looking to spend? I got an SP606 that I'll sell for $300. You can import and export wav files and has up to 380 min sample time available. I just bought a fantom and it has the same sampler so I don't need it anymore. pm me or email bbk1956@gmail.com |

| Lives for gear | Check the avatar(Ensoniq Mirage Rackmount). They go for $50-100 on eBay now and with a PC you can make backup disks to your hearts content(just buy 50 blank 720k disks from the seller 'supershooters' and go to miragelives to download the backup utility and original disk images). It does give drums more 'smash' than the above mentioned machines which have more 'punch'. Actually I just reread your initial post and realized you wanted a 'good' sounding sampler.....oops |
