The Next Level..midgrade setup

Need some ideas for upgrading....

trying to achieve a small setup in which I produce beats on one or two Hw synths, one vocalist, and the occassional bass or guitar.

I have been mixing completely ITB but want to incorporate some hardware for workflow and improved sound quality.

I'm good on mics, plugins, monitors, treatment.

What I'm considering is:
Macpro or Macbook
maybe dbx 160
hw reverb unit
2bus compressor
a/d/a converters
maybe a new interface/soundcard to replace delta 1010
and either a small mixer/console, channel strip, or lunchbox
*I want some type of outboard eq for 8 groups out of the computer but
wouldn't having only one channel strip or lunchbox be a PITA?

budget is around $8k (flexible) to include computer. and I don't need to track several vocals or live instruments at one time.

Any suggestions or examples of your setups would help as I am unfamiliar with how to integrate the HW.

What kind of mics do you have?
What type of music do you do?
Do you record other people? If so, how many do you typically record at a time? What is your maximum?
How many maximum tracks do you need to be able to record at a single time (a drum kit)?
Do you intend on relying on a commercial studio for anything?
What preamps do you have? List all of your gear.

Do RnB, rap, smooth jazz occasionally
Most of work is done on synths maybe a bass or guitar once in blue moon.
No live drums
only record one vocalist at a time.

currently run synth spdif into delta1010 pc card
track mic via blue tube to delta
PTMP now but eyeballing Logic
