Thread Starter | Apogee Ensemble vs. Apogee Rosetta 200
I'm looking to get a new interface as I just sold my RME Fireface 800.... The two I'm looking at are the Ensemble and the Rosetta 200 w/ firewire. I usually just track 2 at a time, but was using the RME as an 8 channel mixer as well. If I got the Rosetta I could substitute my 4 track tascam as the mixer... Then I was thinking I could go Ensemble and add another 2 channel A/D later but that's pretty expensive. I use a Macbook Pro with Cubase 4 and an MPC 3000, SE1x, SP1200 with an Aurora GTQ2mk3 and sometimes a DBX 160x on drums... Opinions? |

You have a lot of different options... I personally have a Lavry AD10 and DA10 hooked up through lightpipe to my Macbook Pro (my production setup)... If you don't need more than 2 channels, you could do that, and have the GTQ2 hooked up to the AD10.

what do you do about MIDI if you're only running two channels? I normally sync the MPC to Cubase using MTC and just do however many passes it takes to complete the track...

Thread Starter | Oh ok, right on...one last question, I'm looking at the AD10 from the rear it has an AES/SPDIF output that looks similar to an XLR cable..I'm assuming there is a specific cable needed (like an AES to SPDIF) to go from that to the MB pro? |

| You would use optical and an adapter for your MacBook Pro.

im also looking at this exact setup! Would I be able to just use the m-audio transit as the cascade to hook the ad10 and da10 up to my laptop through lightbridge?

At the moment I am using a crane song Hedd with my outboard and was looking to add a DA to the mix. I am using a Macbook Pro My idea was to get a Lavry DA and create an aggregate device using whatever soundcard with spdif connections connected to the Hedd. Does anyone have any idea how this would perform? Tony you got all the gear do you think you could give it a go? |

Do you have digital audio optical connections? If so, you just need those cables above and select digital in your sound preferences. | |
