Best transparent ITB plugin to boost gain with?

Because of the problem outlined in this thread, I need to boost some gain on the way in. I figure I will just use a transparent compressor without actually compressing anything just to boost gain, or some other plug in.

Anyone like to recommend anything that doesn't hit the CPU too hard and is transparent? Basically I want something that wont chew up resources or color/alter the sound coming in and is CLEAN.

Thanks.

Maxx Volume by Waves on an aux in.

Bus to an audio track.
Check recorded volume.
When satisfied bag the aux in (if you wish)

No cpu power lost.

Maxx Volume, check, thanks, will look into it. Anyone got any other recommendations in case I can not get my hands on Maxx?

If you dont want color almost any plugin with a gain knob can do the job, I'd use a CSP pro with the "digital input" for example... btw I've been looking to your other thread and I'm really suprised that you need digital gain with you pre + comp... are your peaks that far from -10 db?

McDSP Analog Channel. That'll give you a few different tonal options, as well as some tasty subtle soft-knee compression flava.

Yeah, on second thought...maybe you're missing a different issue, and adding a plugin for gain isn't the best solution?

Remember, your peaks shouldn't be getting much above -6dBfs.
