Shift pitch slower and slower?

What I'm really looking for is a way to mimic the stop button on a turntable, how the pitch gets lower and lower.

I know this is possible in Cool Edit Pro, but how do you do it in Pro Tools?

Thanks

I think it's called VariFi.

Tapestop, it's a free vst (Sirocco gave the info in one of his posts), I tried it cause a friend wanted some "radio edits" for a song, it works.

Yeah I saw that while I was searching the forums. That's exactly what I wanted to use it for. Thanks.

This is the one I found: Tin Brooke Tales Software projects
but it doesn't look like there's a Mac version. It's fine for at home, but at the studio, there's a Mac.

Record to tape, or press a dubplate and throw it on the tables. No plugins needed. Just record it from protools.

Well I would use Serato, but for swear words it would take a while, depending on how many swear words of course. I'm sure there's a fast way cuz I heard so many songs with that effect used to censor swear words, so there's probably another plugin like that for Mac.

Plus Serato is at home where I have a PC so I can use this Tape Stop.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Just letting people know that you 'could' do it without plugins and such. Efficient? Not really, but it really does sound like a record slowing down.

^ Ahh, thanks for clearing that up.

On another note, this is really basic, but how do you use Tape Stop in Pro Tools? I have created instrument tracks before but never fed audio to it.

Cuz macs are so easy to use why would you ever need that :D

Try automating a pitch shift plugin. That's probably what I'm gonna end up doing anyway.

D-Fi is your best bet, but if you don't have it you can still do it fairly easy with ProTools 7.4.

Turn Elastic Audio on the track you want to slow down, set the algorithm to Varispeed and then just automate the tempo of the session from the original tempo to zero (or low enough to get the desired effect). Then disable the EA and commit the region.

Done. :)

Damn, that doesn't work on my LE setup. Pitch shift is only in AudioSuite. I'm pretty sure at the studio I can use it as an insert though, probably thanks to TDM, or maybe cuz it's HD.

I don't wanna pay for 7.4 or for the VST to RTAS adapter, so I guess I'll just try pitch shift automation at the studio.

Thanks everyone for your help.

If you don't want to spend any dosh (tbh the upgrade to 7.4 will prob cost you like 50-75 bux), then maybe just download Structure Free, load the sample you wanna pitch down and go nuts on the pitch wheel.

Resample and you have your effect. :)

Well I found the update for around 80 at most places. That's about the same as the VST to RTAS wrapper. I'll think about it.

Well I coulda sworn I've seen the pitch shift as an insert. Maybe it's only TDM? It also might have been a Waves plugin? But anyway it wasn't only in Audiosuite. So I'm just gonna use that plugin, then automate the "Coarse" adjustment.

It is real time. The option that the majority of people suggested (D-Fi) is not real time - it's an audiosuite plugin. Using EA is realtime.

The only reason I suggested rendering the parts is because I thought he wanted to do it on an entire section so I figured he would just treat it as if he was chopping/editing a sample.
