If hes "the shit" then go on and show it.
Thats all.
Example of the full mix??? His mix on the retail version of the Danity Kane Cd is not enough?

Hmmm... Kind of a gear porn video more than anything else. I dont really get into the whole showing off thing though, Sam kinda seems like a chode. I'm almost feel bad for his assistant, I couldn't work with a guy like that if he never turns it off.

Commenting on the quality of the mix on a youtube video is kind of lame though.

EDIT: I'm not deleting this 1. because Sam referenced it and 2. because I meant it when I said it. I will admit however, I said it out of stupid internet hate and it was overall not relevant, except for last part.

Again, I am so glad others are noticing this stuff. Humility goes a long way. Too bad this D-Bag doesn't have it.

Very lame that Philly got backlash for being truthful and folks went down his throat, but now others are more blunt and dudes don't perceive it the same way.

It seems like Philly was the one being hated on here.

HHmmm didn't Ken Lewis had a youtube video stating all the big record he did on 002? .
YouTube - RIGS - Ken Lewis

Wonder what he thinkg of his friend Ken for hangin around "002 land"

I think he has been typecasted as an old school musican that grumpy that these new school are replacing the good music.

Any type of criticism he gives will be thought of being hating, no matter how right he might be.

I, on the other hand, am not a "certified pro" so I can say what ever I want. Shoot, I can use the same equipment as the pros though, for about $75-$100 an hr.

Let me just clear that up. i did NOT say all the big records i've done on 002. please do not miss quote me. However, i have worked on MUSIC for several big records on 002. NOT MIXING, Recording and creating music. the 002 happens to be the interface i use on one of my two production rigs, i have all Apogee interfaces on my HD / SSL mix rig. While the 002 isnt the best interface on the block, its what i had/have, its convenient and sounds decent enough. I dont think the records i've worked on with it have suffered for it (John Legend, Kanye West, Lenny Kravitz, Janet Jackson, Common, etc...).

I finally watched the SAMIAM video start to finish. I do think the Sucka 4 Love mix sounds really good. i think he's a really talented dude, and the tracks i got recorded by him for the Day 26 song "Got Me Going" which i mixed were all recorded REALLY well. But i do think its a little condescending to try to drop knowledge at the same time that you are basically insulting the people who dont have all the gear you have, and the same people you are professing to drop knowledge to. I thought he was actually gonna drop some knowledge about something at some point, but it mostly was a "look at me and my gear" video. Which thats fine if thats what your trying to do. But clearly, the dude has talent in spades and can definitely mix. lets not get it twisted.

I used API EQ's on alot of my DK vocals, but i actually posted all my vocal chains here in detail on another thread. come on SAM, hook us up with some of your techniques and tricks, even i wanna see that $hit.

Im not "old school" and Im not "hatin"...and I am FAR from grumpy.(lol)
I am brutally honest, so if thats considered old school then so be it.
I was just saying that if the brother was so bragadocious regarding his gear, then he should have given an example of his work on that video and not some lame kick, bg vox, example .
And THAT is what I was commenting about.

Im sure that his mixing ability is ok, relative to the genre.

It just seems that some people take personal offense to constructive criticism.
I see it all the time and thats not a professional attitude imho.

Read my response.
I NEVER mentioned any ONE person...none.
It was a blanket statement...no more..no less.

And thanks for not singling me out.(smile)

Some folks just dont "get it" and some do.

Some have "selective memory" and only hear or read what they want to.

Just my opinion homie. But it undermines what the young cats may have gotten out of the video. Just because some of us have been there done that doesn't mean that we should shut something down b4 the younger cats get to form their own opinions. Alot of the folks here dont know more than a laptop and downloaded programs- that's their studio. It may be beneath ur standards but it's a peek into something new for some.

grow up lil homie. I go back to Bad Boy BIG Ready to Die as an intern. I saw the whole album being made and mixed. That insight set me on my path. Been working on all levels ever since.

But for the cat who has never even seen an engineer work in a full mix room, i'm sure there was something taken from that video- even if it's motivation. The original poster obviously got something from it.

It wasn't a rhetorical question, dude. I was asking you a simple question. I was hoping to get an honest answer. But instead I get "grow up lil homie".
