| How to convert Ensoniq ASR-10 AudioTracks/DiskTracks to WAV? I posted this message on the old ASR-10 forum, but the place is almost dead now, not very active so I thought I could get some advice here, this is an amazing place for info and resources: basically this is my problem. I have a few ASR-10 tracks with Ensoniq disktracks (audiotracks recorded on a ZIP), mostly (real) bass lines and vocals. is there any way all to extract dikstracks from the ZIP disk and convert this to a WAV file? I would like to be able to use/save those tracks the way they are without going through a lossy conversion through cable/soundcards. It would also really be useful for another purpose, let's say you record a song on the ASR-10. You could then just change the INPUTREC to MAIN OUT and then just record your own song to a disktrack/audiotrack and there you go, you'd just have a perfect digital recording of the song, without going through analog lossy conversion through soundcard/cables. If only there was a way of converting ASR-10 Disktracks to WAV with software, it means you could really have the best quality possible for your songs and recordings. I tried extracting the audiotrack (ASMPL000 something) located on my ZIP disk but Translator doesn't work, it extracts nothing at all. From what i read, Ensoniq Disk Tools could possibly accomplish what i want to do but I could not install the only demo i could find is only WIN98, the current link on ChickenSys is desactivated. Thanks for any help ![]() |

| If that doesn't work, if you can get the tracks onto your PC hard drive somehow, then make a copy of them and try opening the copies as raw PCM headerless data. You can do this by renaming their file extensions (last 3 letters of file name) to .PCM . Audacity and CoolEdit can read those files. Perhaps Goldwave can too. You will then have to experiment with telling the program what format the tracks are in: how many channels? (2 for stereo, 1 for mono) what's the sampling rate? (most likely 44100 samples per second) what's the bit resolution? (most likely 16 bit, signed) what's the bit order (most likely LSB comes first, also known as Little-Endian, for PC's; Macs use Big-Endian with the MSB first) Be sure to play the copy you are working with to make sure it sounds alright. If it sounds ok, then save it as a .WAV file with a new name. If the pitch is wrong or it's too fast or too slow then try again with a new copy, adjust the sampling rate up or down. Be sure to work with a copy so you don't ruin the original ASR file(s). On a mac, you could use SoundHack to achieve similar results... opening the file as a headerless file. I hope this helps. |
