| Gear nut | How does my vocal booth sound? (Rap audio clip) Hey guys, I just built my own vocal booth and I recorded a little something for you to give me your critiques about the sound. This next clip is a recording of a rapper, the language is Hebrew so don't be too shocked, it's an acapella and the rapper is kinda shouting a little bit in order to challenge the booth. BTW I mostly record rap so this recording is the most relevant to me. The vocal is unprocessed except a high-pass filter at 100Hz.

the "s" sounds is one of the characteristics of the mic which i actually like. I don't think it got something to do with reflection.

| Your signal chain is as important as your vocal bootg and trying to determine if your vocal booth is up to par by a soundclip is pretty pointless. |

| True. In my humble opinion, vocal booth sound (as well as your vocal chain) is all about preference. Some guys like their booth to sound more 'live' and some like there booth to sound totally dry and lifeless, some people's preference lay between those two extremes. If the sound works for your productions and works for how you like to have your vocals sounding before you mix, then your booth will be up to par -- in regards to your tastes and standards. |
