Copying & Pasting Unquantized Drums (Custom Grid) In Cubase SX/Nuendo 3?

Ok...I have always found a way around this (say, by gluing the unquantized sequences together in 16 bar seuqences) but i was wondering if there was a way to turn this unquantized pattern into a 'grid' i can latch onto. I am pretty confident it can be done but I just don't know how to go about it. Any help?

hi,

I think in this case the timewarp tool should be the function you were looking for. it basically, moves the vertical grid lines around in cubase, music stays put. However, note that in warp mode you've gotta use the shift key everytime you move a bar else only the first bar would be in grid, the subsequent bars will stray out. i searched the net a bit for some info and i think this should help cubase_videos
look under timewarp and also hitpoints should the above fail. Hope this is what you're looking for and hope it helps.

Select the (midi) sequence you want to use. Go to advanced quantize and select part to groove. Save it in quantize setup. Done!

Say you have a 4 bar loop... What I do to solve this is create a small peice of silent audio. I copy it to the begining of bar one on all the drum tracks, and then put that same piece on the grid at bar 5. Highlight the whole section on all the tracks and bounce selection. Then simply cut at bar 5, and now you audio is completly on grid. I hope that makes sense.

i dont thin this is a good idea. unnecessarily consolidating events removes flexibility as well as wastes disk space
