Thread Starter | Sound designers! This is what we want!
Okay, so I have been buying sample CD's, Drums collections, VSTi's and hardware romplers (Triniton, Motif ES, XV5080), and synths as Omega, Nordlead and Virus for more than 10 years now. Always looking for that next magic sound that will make my tracks hit like nothing else. To be honest, it is hard work finding the right stuff. After collecting hundred of thousands of single sounds, I still want more. You can call me a "sound slut". So what am I looking for? Always new drum sounds. SonicSpecialits is good, Love the Goldbaby sets and I also collected a bunch of ripped samples like the GNX collections. What am I missing here? Maybe a few collections that really match well. Like gritty high hats that goes well together, Kicks that melt your sub and snares so crisp the dog walks out. Also more percussion like sonicspecialists vol. 3. Really nice cutting through sounds. Also I would love a great Hip hop Synth collection of mulitsampled sounds fit for the genre. I am talking 20-50 different samples of each sound programmed in Kontakt or another popular sampler. Most of what you can get now is made for Dance/Trance/Electro, so it would be nice with a different approach. I love that a VSTi like Predator has some R&B presets like Usher's Yeah synth sound. More like that for sure. Most sample CD's for Hip Hop and R&B is just loops. I really hate that. Most of them sound rubbish, and if you finally find something great, you will hear it in a computer game pretty soon. Let's get some workstations or at least some great multisamples for Hip Hop sounds instead. Finally I never get tired of acoustic guitar R&B riffs and chords. Countless times has a small riff been what it took to get my next track going. So more of that please. Happy hunting... MySpace.com - Johnny Jam - Producer - Kgs. i hate loops. i dont want to use loops. if i buy a library first thing i do is delete all loops and filter out the one shots. i dont know why i should use a piano, guitar or bass loop?! thats kinda rubbish to me. i prefer to play them by myself or get a musician for those difficult guitars etc. so i just wish more librarys with one shots (drums) and real instruments ( strings, pianos). EWQL is actually great for that. i think in a few years we will have workstations that hold more than just 300MB or workstations you can install vstis on it. that would be great!

I'm not a big fan of loops but there's a lot of way to get creative using loops. jus drop the loop into a sampler, find a cool starting point and play the keys... for example. I never get rid of any audio material...

Thanks and SonicSpecialists will continue to push the envelope with our sounds. A lot of 'sound designers' aren't also mix engineers as well - so that could be a reason the SonicSpecialist sound has an edge.

Hey sirocco- this looks like a great product it should sell well- its like an up to date motif in a box, with an emphasis on drum sounds! I am not sure if I really need it myself but I am sure it will be popular, its a great resolution for someone starting up. The drum sounds are good and I am always looking for more- do you think it is worth getting if I plan on buying UF4, or are these sounds redundant or already included in UF4? The whole pre-processed thing also seems pretty inticing, particularly for string and brass sounds. |

![]() however - it has a ton of other good shit - the synths are very good as well as the acoustic sounds. the beatbox stuff is ridiculous for the danja type stuff!

why not get creative and make your own then instead of off-the-shelf which anyone can have? surely someone in your financial position can afford the time for that?

lol... even if I know how to program sounds (well I finally managed to learn some basic stuff) I luv presets. I always tweak the presets but usually it's after playing my melody. Sometimes I create my own from scratch but it's not my cup of tea, I like to make beats. And yes give us mo "hip hop" presets! |

same here. not to mention that some people are just better and making drum sounds than others. nothing wrong with that. some people specialize in sound design.

| it's like if you're trying to play a instrument like the guitar, some people want to actually spend time playing the guitar instead of spending the time to make one.

| Lives for gear | sweet, do you have any little demos of the beatbox stuff they don't have any on the website? It says theres a 1000 drum sounds, how many are yours? Im assuming the NI ones are like the ones that come in Kontakt 3 which aren't that good really.

I always wish that the creators of the soft synths and samplers would take a look at what is generally number 1 or top 5 on the Billboard and give us more examples and demonstrations of Hip Hop/R&B beats rather than the dance & electronica. Although I realize a lot of them come from overseas I just wish they take a peek at whats going on over here. Big up NI slowly but hopefully surely.

i wouldnt in general say looking for sounds 'designed' for a hiphop is a good idea (with the possible exception of drums - making real hard hiphop drums is difficult and it's important they bang, so I might be tempted to use other peoples hiphop drums), simply because every wannabe producer in the world is gonna go 'oh look, hiphop presets, these will make me sound like dre/timbaland, im gonna rinse them'... surely you want to find your own sound, and going for sounds that are presumably created by sound designers looking at the current hits and fads, will just come up with some very familiar sounds... look for sounds that arent specifically meant for and marketed as hiphop and make them into hiphop, and you might actually come up with something thats unique.
