Favorite keys?

(I don't mean: 'what's your favorite workstation?')

Im asking:

what keys do you like playing most?

I'd start a poll but sure i'd forget something and ruled invalid so let's hear it...

i havent really used a triton much up until the last couple weeks and have to say i like it a lot more than my beloved fantom (and experiences with a motif) ... im not a fan of the little phatty keys at all and despite what most people say about the keys on the asr-10, i like how the black keys are rounded inward... good synth action if ya want.

my vote goes for the keys on the triton studio.. the old silver one? i think thats the one/studio

i dont remember any midi controllers feeling as velocity-accurate as the tritons but interested in other's opinions with certain pieces. im trying to consolidate my production a bit into a mac book

my motif 6 classic has great synth action. i use it mainly as a controller now

i would like to swap it for an ES7... the extra keys and (very basic) mackie control emulation would be sweet... the updated sample set would just be a nice extra

ditto! been using mine from '99, mainly for live and sequencing. after moving to logic two years back, i still found myself using sounds from the triton on my beats.

one of the best buys i've ever made (besides my rhodes mk I).

haven't used fantom, motif etc. that much. heard good things.

nord electro works damn well in live situations, but in studio i think that there is nothing i couldn't do with softsynths.

edit: 2 seconds after posting i realized what you actually were asking, sorry. on the keys, i still like my triton (pro model, with pianotouch). if i'd just play organ sounds, my pick would no doubt be nord electro.

The Roland RD-300SX has got the best action I have ever felt. It has a progressive hammer action that allow you real piano feel for pianos and rhodes and is still light enough in terms of action where you can play funky syncopated synth parts.

I sill have mad love for my Triton Studio.
It works for me.
I have a Motif es 7, a Fantom,Oxygen 8 and tons of soft synths but my trusty Triton gets used the most.

ALL THE MINOR KEYS.... NOT JUST REGULAR MINOR..... PURE MINOR

E Pure Minor being one of my favs...... next to G# Pure Minor...

playing a major key just sounds too corny, but some people actually come up with some decent melodies in major keys (R. Kelly - Thats That [C Major], Usher - Love In This Club [C Major] Tupac - Changes [G Major])

Might wanna rephrase your question a little bit, Tony...lol

For me, Triton hands down. Not even close (and I don't even OWN one ). Not only the keys, though, but the joystick seems 100000000times more expressive and smooth than my Fantom X. The Fantom's joystick sounds very choppy and rough.

distinguishing between major and minor keys is often futile and self-limiting imo. Am ~ Cmaj; Em ~ Gmaj.

if you have a D Em C Am progression is it in Gmaj or Em? who cares. more relevant would just be to say you like minor chords, no?

i've never heard of "regular" minor. maybe you are refering to "natural" minor. but that and "pure" minor refer to the same thing which is the mode aeolian. other than that you have harmonic minor and melodic minor. which can all be altered of course...

In a C Pure Minor scale instead of going from B to C... u go Bb/A# to C...

its just a full step leading to tonic instead of the half...

because it depends where your root note is... even tho your playing the same Keys in AMin/CMaj if your ending on A it sounds alot better instead of ending on C...

Listen To Xzibit's - "X" and listen to Usher's "Love In this Club", "X" is played in A Minor, Love In This Club is played in C Major...

2 Different sounds

oi . i know. my point was just that it's so much more complicated than that simple dichotomy, and as someone else added, there 7 modes (Musical mode - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) plus an infinite number of variations, soo imo, experiment more.

i'm done here.
