| Lives for gear | Inspiration Im curious to know what music here people are listening to outside of hip-hop/rnb/ whatever the hell we call the music we discuss here as its highly debatable lol. And more importantly, how it inspires you and translates into the work you do. I myself listen to a lot of world and film music. I grew up studying flamenco guitar, so I definetely listen to that stuff and have taken away its sense of rhythym and melodic phrasing. In term of film music, I love Hanz Zimmer, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard etc. I would have to say my favorite soundtrack is Charlie and he Chocolate factory which Danny Elfman did- shit is trippy and absolutely wild! When I first heard Madonna's new single "Give it Me" I was wondering if Pharrell has been listening ti it as well. Also feel free to post some of your favorite music you sample outside the realm of soul as I think we all are aware by now. If anybody uses a lot of big band, I would curious as to their favorite sources. |
