How can I get acapellas that haven't been released?

i don't think that's possible.
maybe try to get your hands on some promo cds's before the retail is out?
some of them have acappellas.

for songs that come with a instrumental mix you could try to line box mixes up in your daw and try to reverse the phase of one of the tracks.
that should leave you with the vocal

this always left me with some 'bleed' and phasey stuff.

I beg, borrow and steal for them.


As an avid collector of Notorious B.I.G. studio accs, I have traded for them, whatever it takes.

As BYD stated, many promo cds/vls come with a pella. That's a good place to start. Google is your friend. Torrents are your friend. I know there is a 3 gb torrent floating around with around 1200 accs, that would be a good place to start.


If anybody has any rare Biggie stuff, PM me for trades.

Regarding "DIY" or "CPU" accs, some are better than others.


Some of the young guys are getting very good at creating DIY accs. Some are useable, some are not. It is a very time consuming process which requires tons of micro editing, especially if the instrumental and regular song are ripped from vinyl.


Here is a remix I did from a DIY acc:

I think the chain on that cpu was EQ->comp-> de-esser -> comp -> EQ-> Ozone (limiter only)
