IMHO - I think that EZDrummer is definitely worth trying out.

The Vintage & Claustrophobic EZX's (expansion kits) are killer for the Rap / Hip-Hop style.

You should check out their Artist Demo page .... they have a few sound examples on there.

I've been using DFH superior with the Vintage kit add-on for a couple years now. More then ever since my friend took his acoustic kit back. Haha.

I converted some remo practice pads and a practice kick pad to triggers using some piezos. I use an old alesis d4 as a trigger brain with a ghetto maudio sustatin pedal to control the hi hat sounds.

It's a lot of fun!

Props on that move Jae, that's ill. A lot of people pay too much for these electronic drum sets, when the concept is pretty simple - hit a pad, trigger a sound. That's dope what you did with the pedal too, that's real hip hop style like plugging the turntables into the lightpost in the park...

Regarding EZDrummer, I've tried it, and the Claustrophobic Kit is definitely real nice for hip hop. The Vintage kit has the Bonham snare on it, pretty cool. I'm also a big fan of the software called Addictive drums, it seems to have more variation to the sounds with velocity, super expressive although it's really heavy on the CPU IMO. I acutally prefer the interface on Addictive Drums, it's well designed from an ergonomic point of view....

Yes I use E z Drums and BFD (installed on my Miko) but only as Extra drums, I lay down the main drums with a 909,808 or MPC then I lay over a track with Ez drums for like snare rolls, tom rolls etc, add a LIVE feel to it. It's also plug to a roland V drum so we actually PLAY EZ drums. Sounds Great give it a try

BTW, how much was your Miko, Im not sure if i want one, they look to powerful in a bad way, IMO, Like my friend has one, and after he cloned alot of keyboards and put software on it, it was extremely slow, i dunno maybe it was just his

Though i really thing that EZ drunmmer is good stuff... i like Addictive Drums a lot more... to me it just sound more appropriate for modern music... EZ is soundingn more Vintage/Rock

My two cents

Hi well I LOVE my Miko it's the best investement I have made in a long time. It s not too powerful it's perfect, i even run protools from it and it's the best. Then I can just take the Miko on the road with me to any studio and plug it to a ssl for mixing etc...

Thing is, we Philly cats who have TONS of credits on TONS of real hits dont get any respect from the "endorsement folks"
Shit, people who have played on one hit elsewhere are getting major props and they cant even play!!

Ya heard????
Now can I hear an amen??

I don t know I'm not from Philly and I don't have only one hit and I play sing write etc.. sooo i wouldn't know the thing is if you are on Credits as a producer, writer or singer for a gold or platinum hits it's easier (not easy) to get endorsed by brands (gear cloth etc...) if you just played a few keys and are not the "producer" of the track. it's harder.
to go back to the main topic of the thread:
ez drummer works great as a "extra spice" for your track. Especially for hip hop, it would never be enough by itself (Hip Hop requires quit a heavy kick)

so basically you have to be a well rounded producer/engineer with a couple of mixes and hits under your belt to get sponsered by openlabs, thats cool man, keep up the good work, pretty soon i will have my article up there and many other places too.

Can you tune the drums?

I feel like a moron, but can you tune the drums in EZ drummer? Or are they fixed?

They seem fixed. I'm working right now at a cafe with headphones on and don't have the manual with me.

There are some sounds that are great but I really need to tune them for the project I'm working on.

You can bounce the drums to multi-out audio tracks and tune em that way. You can't do it within EZD AFAIK.

Not sure.
I know you can tune the drums in Superior, and you'll be able to tune the drums from EZX packs in Superior2.

Can't wait for Superior 2.0 to hit the shelves. I've been using EZDrummer for a few months and I love it. It'll be nice to have more tweaking abilities over those EZX sounds!

Is anyone using it with Logic or Ableton? I need to crank out some old school rock/surf drums really quick, and I was considering picking EZ Drummer up this weekend....I'd love to hear from someone using it with either of these programs. Thanks!

I use it in logic and love it. Mixing them through some 1073 flavor/fatso turns the drum tracks from a bargain to incredible.
