Do I need a new display for my MPC 2000?

Hey slutz,
I have a problem with the display of my Akai MPC 2000. Over the years she got more and more stripes on the display (horizontal and vertical)! I lived with the problem as long as I could but now it's almost impossible to work with it! Do I need a new display or can I repair it by myself with a kind of fitting, if yes which one I need? Or do I need a new display? It's very expensive here in germany 238 € mean 380 $! If I need a new one can you tell me where I can get it cheaper, maybe in the us? Help me!

Give "Bruce" at Forat a call he is extremely helpful and knowledgeable with MPC's. He is a super nice guy and did great work on my MPC 3000. Forat -- Service

Yeah, you will need to replace your screen. There is a thread on here somewhere or MPC-forums.com that has instructions on how to replace it yourself. I just fixed mine 2 months ago. I bought the part from MPCstuff, but I see some people on here have had problems with that site. Mine came in fine, so maybe go with the suggestions from above. It's not too complicated, but it is time consuming. The 2000 has a millions screws. Good luck with it.

The display of the MPC 2000 looks different from that of the 2000 XL! You think or know there's a difference when I will replace it?

Sorry, I do not know. I thought those are the same...I do not own any MPC.
