Adding outboard gear for mixing

I have been mixing ITB for a few years now and would like to start sending my mixes through some outboard gear.

What are you guys sending your mixes through?

Any hardware on the master you couldn't live without?

I'll be getting about $3500.00 back from taxes.(feeling a lil slutty)

I'm done buying keyboards and sound modules so I'm looking to invest in the fianl mix stage.

Do any of you go straight to CD or does the majority just bounce to disk?

I've never even thought about waves hardware.. I'm gonna look more into that. So, it's maxx bass, a compressor and limiter huh? How about an outboard EQ? Any suggestions on on a good EQ people? I'm good with the EQs I have in the diamond bundle for indiv tracks. Just want something a lil different on the 2bus.

Forgot to mention..

I track my vox and beats through digi002r. I am using diamond bundle plugins.

There's really not any particular sound that I'm looking for. Just a real clean one. I'm just feeling real slutty right now so I need to buy a nice piece of hardware. Thats the reason I ask if anyone has anything on the 2bus that they couldn't live without. Just for the ideas...

ok....4 me its the Maxx BCL.....no doubt....it gives you that "in your face" sound...but check it out first...cause I got the version with the old converters from jensen....last summer waves started to use their own converters...and I dont know how they sound...peace

i just did my first mix using all the sony/sonnox plugs and i hate to say it, but as far as i know how to do, they're kicking the shit out of my UAD plugs .... Neve 1073, 1081, precision limiter...

I dont know if Im doing something wrong, bangin the hell out them too much but my shit is super loud, is breathing and is sounding "better" than when I run it through the Avalon at the studio.

Im gonna post a clip tomorrow in the music section if anyone would provide feedback. I kind of hate that Im liking this ITB mixing more for some reason ...

If I had NO outboard and 3500 to treat up the 2mix analog?:

-PSX100 ADDA
-AMEK 9098 stereo compressor or (if you know how to solder)
I'd build a GSSL and fully mod it out
-Neumann 491 eqs

thats right around 3500 (maybe a shade over) and, if used correctly, will put your 2mix treatments right up there with the best.

After a few A/B tests back in the day between bouncing and printing a mix, I will NEVER bounce a mix again.
